    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

You had no main pressure on the transfer case port? There is another sample port for main pressure on the bottom/underside of the transmission control module. You will find pressure test specs in appendix B of that Allison Manual. Idling In Neutral you should have 218-276 PSI of main pressure…

correct. I have modified my wiring to do this when I configured my exhaust brake control.

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

Here is a VIM diagram from the A0 schematic drawings. You have the A0 manuals right? A2 to A3 jumpered on the VIM, or SF01’s contacts, pin 30-87, will generate a transfer case diff-lock request to the TCU. On the later WTEC 3 and 4 trucks(98+ A0 and A1) that don’t use the VIM they simply...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

D1 on the VIM? D1 is an output to the power divider air solenoid on a 3 axle truck. Grounding it will have no effect on the trans and will probably pop a circuit breaker(CB 21)… to send a diff lock/4X4 request it needs to be a signal ground from within the trans wiring system. Truck ground...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

It is a DC signal. The supervisory signal is so low it has very little DC component to measure with a digital multimeter. it shows better as an AC signal On a meter, but you will see it as square wave pulsed DC on an oscope… The DMM is Not useful for absolute measurements in this situation...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

Yes, you need to connect it to a low impedance load otherwise it will fault. Is your meter set for AC voltage? It is such a small voltage and duty cycle, it has almost no DC component to measure. The supervisory/test signal is the same 7khz signal. i measured ~60millivolts AC initially. With...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

Is a rear wheel spinning? You only get 30% of the torque out the front if the center diff has something to push against. If a rear wheel is spinning under the conditions you describe, then 100% of the torque is escaping thru that spinning rear wheel. That is one reason for the standard 70/30...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

looks like you took a wrong turn somewhere… Lets start with the first pic. That large connector just inside the drivers door is the STE connector, stands for Standardized Test Equipment. It has NO connections whatsoever to the transmission wiring! The two pins you circled in white(P and...

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

The driveshafts are pretty steep on the low pinion rigs(~9 deg). The rear DS is also at maximum length(weight/mass) for that type 16 DS, so raising the rear pinion reduces the DS angle and the resultant force from longitudinal vibrations. At highway speed the low pinion driveshafts are way...

The book you want is the MD3070 troubleshooting guide. Google "TS2470EN" and you can find it online for download as a .PDF Like General mentioned a weak connection in the harness could be limiting the current delivered down to that C7 solenoid. pulls in with the peak signal but relaxes...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

Sounds like you are following the right path. Be carefull energizing the trans solenoid coils. They use low impedance coils(3 ohm) so they can responde faster, but you must use pulse width modulation signal as direct DC(100% duty cycle) will feed them too much current and cook them… The...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

OK, if you are in drive, when you select mode does the display change from 2-7 to 2-5(range pre-select)? like I described above when you select mode the only thing the transmission does is limit your gear range to 5th gear. when it does this, it outputs a mode indicator signal(path to ground)...

1996 LMTV 1078 cab has not power

Cleaning all the connections at the PPD usually fixes the issue…. Very common problem! Yea I regret teaching the wife to use the Backhoe…

1996 LMTV 1078 cab has not power

Ok voltage dropping off when load is applied is a classic symptom of a high resistance connection. That or a really bad battery. easy enough to track down though: Since you say you have lights, which are all 12v, i suspect the ground to 12v batt is OK with the switch turned on/load applied...

1996 LMTV 1078 cab has not power

    1. K02 in the power panel goes click when you turn on the IGN switch(one hand on the relay, other hand on the ign sw), but no idiot panel lights in the dash? 2. Does anything else work when you turn on the ign sw? Relay K02 energizing should power wipers, horn, heater blower, transmission...

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

Well it doing a power on self test is a great sign. But until you can read its codes, it is grasping at straws. Could be something as simple(and quite common) as a wheel sensor having intermittent connection or detection(sensor backed out from tone wheel)…

I believe so. They replaced the original spec roller thrust-bearing with a different roller thrust-bearing, then they replaced that second bearing with the current spec thrust washer...

    LMTV Frame twist

Well I needed the room for my habitat, so the cooling system and oil fills were getting re-engineered anyway. I actually wound up fabbing my own front wall truss that bolts in the same location, only down at the floor level, arching close over the top of the transmission. I even re-used the...
