    Testing Cat 3116 injectors

I actually came across a video of a manual one a while back but cannot locate it. If you could machine a cup to hold one with a gallery to supply fuel to the ports, and position the rack with a vernier caliper, you could probably use an Arbor press to cycle the injector manually. Haven't come...

    M1078A1 Battery Disconnect Relay Cycling

Cool! Based on the way they did the ground connections from the factory, I am really amazed we don’t have more issues like this than we do…

    Testing Cat 3116 injectors

Here are some 3116 injector test videos… Think this one is out of Albania:) This one is out of Asia?

    M1078 A1 transfer case

exactly, its by S/N, which can be located on the right side of the transmission housing, metal plate riveted to the aluminum case.

    M1078 A1 transfer case

You need to look thru the tech note bulletins(i think they are in this discussion), and compare the transmission S/N cutoff where they switched to the current bushing from the previous specced needle bearing packages. Compare that S/N to your transmission S/N to see if yours was produced before...

    Testing Cat 3116 injectors

Yea a little smoke when cold is perfectly normal on a 3116…:)

    LMTV Frame twist

I don’t see it really supporting the frame all that muck as it is narrow and mounted perpendicular to it. Because the engine and trans is located there, trucks don’t typically have any re-enforcement there. Looking at it as a whole, it probably weakens more than it would support as they had to...

    Testing Cat 3116 injectors

Yea because these are both injector pump and injector, it takes a pretty special rig to hold and feed fuel, as well as manipulate the rack, compress the mechanism repeatedly and monitor output pattern and volume… if you find a place it will probably be overseas(south America, Europe or Asia…...

    Air Drain Valves

I have only seen it listed overseas. It is a metric port valve with the adapters on each end to provide a US standard. It uses the disc also as the sealing material, unless it has been beaten to death with a hammer and the case is cracked, if it is leaking, the disk rubber has deteriorated...

    Air Drain Valves

In the case of the PPV used on the LMTV, they may have selected an adjustable to tune its interaction with the CTIS pressure switch. The CTIS switch closes when it passes above 117PSI and opens again when it passes below ~89PSI. Since CTIS can draw so much air, the controller uses this switch...

    Battery Box Latch Easy Fix?

Yep, that thing(splined hub). Looks like a pretty substantial chunk of steel... Idea on how much it weighs?

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

While you are confirming cable destinations and cable connections, when you get to that starter ground connection, follow the strap from front of starter to frame rail, remove the bolt, strip off the chassis paint to bare metal, discard the star washer and re-assemble with the strap end right...

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

OK, so an A0 truck. Where exactly are you measuring/where are the meter leads connected when you see the drop from 24 to 12? The ground lead from the battery runs to a device near the polarity box called a shunt(used to measure current flow) and from there to the front of the starter motor...

    M1078A1 "Pandora" Build | 2024-??? | ***Picture Heavy***

Can you shoot a pic of the side of the plate carrier/center component that engages the forward face of the thrust bearing? i am curious what it looks like. Based on the radically different thickness between the thrust bearing pack and the thrust washer I am thinking that once Allison started...

    M1078A1 "Pandora" Build | 2024-??? | ***Picture Heavy***

The glue that binds the clutch media to the discs is water soluble. I guess it depends upon how long it has been since it was first run and the water mixed/emulsified with the oil. if it has set like that with emmulsified oil for long, the C7 difflock clutch pack may be toast as i believe...
