Most folks know the MEP units with brushless genheads make clean power. However, I've always wondered how clean.
I used a Rigol DS1054Z scope with a Micsig differential probe to do the measuring and screen captures. (So I don't blow up the scope)
For baseline reference, here is incoming...
Google or Amazon "California Twist Lock".
There is not a standard NEMA 50A 120/240V twist lock. The defacto-standard is the CS50 (California Standard 50 A). These are commonly found on spider box power distributions.
Here are some examples:
This is a female receptacle...
Something's wrong with your pump or 802a. Mine starts a 3.7HP air compressor. Generator grunts hard, but listening to the air comp, you'd never know it was on gen power.
Maybe your well pump is partially shorted. Get an amp clamp that can measure peak amps.
I bought a R2.8 Cummins (ISF 2.8 ) for a truck repower project. Lot of China made parts. R2.8 assembly is suppose to happen in the US. The engine has a generally good reputation. For reference, this is one of their joint-venture factories in China.

Thanks for the great report, especially fuel consumption numbers.
I have an 802 now, but still shopping for an 803 to run the central A/C if necessary. (I have window unit for emergencies right now) The 831 is interesting and I would still like to play with one. We don't have many power...
Welcome to the site! And congrats on your purchase. It looks like you are getting it setup well.
Like Uniquify stated, the fitting is AN-5, which can be harder to source. Most race shops jump from -4 to -6. I just bought a bunch of -5 JIC fittings from www.discounthydraulichose.com/

I use the same plugs. They are real common, especially with field expedient power distribution from rental companies. Those little spider boxes common to job sites have them.
Got the oil pressure gauge working. I threw a mechanical gauge on the engine and it registered 48 psi hot. The gauge in the panel was just stuck. Banged on it a few times and cycled it from 0 psi to running psi and it seemed to loosen up and start working properly.
However, I have load...
$800 + $15 for fuel line and quad circuit fuse setup. The hour meter says 206 hrs on the unit. Judging by its condition, it seems plausible. The unit is very clean on the inside and nothing is missing. Given what surplus and Craigslist units are selling for, I'm feeling pretty good about...
My first MEP generator (MEP-802a), new issue
Hi everyone! First off this site has been a wealth of info, as I'm just getting started with MEP generators and .mil surplus in general. So big Thanks to all the contributors out there!
I picked up a non-running MEP-802a off Craigslist for cheap...
