You are correct this wet stacking is caused from to much idle (most of the time) making the pistons / rings shrink from being to cool for to long and not burning all the fuel fully from low compression.
There is one thing to think about on your 8.3 it has a turbo. It is advisable to at least let the turbo cool off before shutting down if you have been in a hard pull . A few factors figure in though slower driving after a pull ( like driving through town a little or down the dirt road) If you...
I am as well very frustrated with GP I am waiting on my SF97 I have called several times. I have been told they would check into it and call back and NO call back. I had a lady tell me she had it in her hand and would get it out that day and I would see it Friday that came and went with no paper...
If you have or can get an air hammer and a blunt punch may help. Air hammers are very good with rusty stuff and if all else use some heat to warm it up some.
My next step was to get some mud flaps on the back. I had heard that a local fire department received an M915 to convert to there use and they were not going to use the mud flaps and hangers it had. I bought these from them. I figured the measurements I need so the flaps would clear the landing...
If you are wanting to know where the fuel screw is I have circled it. You will want to screw it in till it bottoms out don't get to rough with it though and after it is in run the truck and see if it helped to shut off truck screw it back out.

You may want to turn in the fuel screw on the fuel solenoid and see if it will stay running. If it does stay running you may have a electrical connection problem or a solenoid hat gets warm and quits.
Hello Skull
looking good!! I do have a question though; Where did you get your brake chambers? The reason I ask is I have not see the type that has the removable clamp on the spring brake side with no little safety brackets for a long time!!! Please take note there is a big spring on the back...
Well I have owned this truck a while now but had not started a thread till now of my build and how I have come along. I have been working on my modifications and will get all caught up to speed as I go along. Here are a few pictures to start off with
I started off with a nice looking truck to...
If you had some sort of pump you could open the oil gallery and hook in your pump and psi the system up with fresh oil. That would get oil to all the parts that need it. You can bar the engine over while the pump has the psi up. I wouldn't run the pump to long of a time though. You can do the...
I am not an expert but for my 2 cents. The on highway vehicles are going to have more air going across the condenser because of speeds of the vehicles down the highway and these military and off road need the aux fans to move the air across the condenser because they are slower for what ever...
That looks like a fun ride!! If you can I would grease the u-joints at least before you head out. I also would check the fluid level in the transmission I have found that they are over full on the couple I have picked up.
GOOD LUCK
I had a hard time on my M931 getting it in as well. I have yet to do the other side but the way i was able to get one in was with a ribbon feeler blade ( used for adjusting valve rockers) and smaller screw drivers. Kinda work the window down while working the weather strip over the window...
