Spliced in a new 4 gauge wire and eye terminal, polished all connections.....started right up. A corroded eye terminal (missing bottom half) was arching and appeared to be the cause of this.
It is. I recently bought a Galion 150 crane (old, leaky and need of TLC......fits in with our hobby) and was in need of about 100 gallons of hydraulic fluid. I called a good friend in the oil business, and a 55 gallon drum was about $7.50/gallon for AW32 or AW46 (that's without the $25 drum...
It did. I'll splice in a new 4 gage wire and connector and see if that solves this. I have never seen that kind of electrical arcing.....makes you double check your cab fire extinguisher.
Thanks Gimpyrobb
I went to start the M817 this weekend and saw a shower of fireworks through the floor. I removed the access panel, checked the connections......and noticed the battery connection at the solenoid had melted around the eye connector. The 2nd wire (same terminal) had burned/corroded 1/2 of the...
I think oil based coolants are mainly mineral oil with chloride and sulphur additives (for lubricity). I remember using water based coolants for high speed machining (CNC Mills/Lathes) and oil based for heavy duty stuff (threading, gun drilling, hogging out stainless steel key ways and the...
Thank you. I originally used birch ply for spars, then went with carbon fiber (that was about a 50 hour repair, did both sides, dug out the gorrilla glue'd spars from the foam cores). Nobel kits....thats about 60 years old. My first was a Royal P-38.....a box of sticks, nothing...
Absolutely.....snapped this one with the family on the way to Disney (and the Pilot was totally cool having my little guy in the cockpit)
And my "prior" hobby was building and flying large scale R/C (until I added up what I spent on every crash....about a nice M923 from GL)......here's a...
I would apply for the plate through the state (I think MaDeuce has a contact for us to work with until a permanent plate is in place.......it's on a thread in here somewhere) vs. the DMV. When I asked the DMV representative about the new plate, they had no idea what I was talking about (as...
Glad to hear that. This is a wonderful hobby with a fantastic community willing to help on a moments notice. Jeff is truly representative of the best this hobby has to offer (and there are ALOT of guys in here just like him).
I walked into the Libertyville, IL DMV.......showed them the tax paid receipt from GL , SF-97 and signed a title application for my M925. It took them a bit to figure out the manufacturer, but they found the "AmGen" for American General in their system......good to go. I received the title...
I'm running two 5" cylinders for my plow on the M925 hydraulics.....works like a charm. I bring it up to around 1500-1800 RPM and she moves without hesitation. I put it under load (to stress test the mount, hoses) by placing the plow against a tree.....pushed the truck back with brakes on!!!
Napa part number for ether:

They are not cheap (Doghead mentioned a few other places like John Deere, truck shops, etc....to get at a lower price)
Nice looking truck!!! Isn't Jeff the best? He makes this hobby far more enjoyable (and who can you call when Sh*t hits the fan?). He's our resident go to guy!
I give you a ton of credit.....it was WAY to cold to be playing this past week. I was going to do a knuckle boot.......and even...
Hi Artisan
I put a bunch of build pictures in my profile (under albums, hit the "more" button) vs. posting in this thread (you were looking for a few extra pictures, I failed to post them in this thread).
