Just wanted to come here & share something I found on another post... the MEP 1050 has the same generator head as the MEP 1040. At times, I can get those for a good deal. So, I may be able to get one for just the head to make this MEP 1040 work. Thread below...
None are needed with the OEM line as it is return line, not feed line. It will "bond" after a heat cycle or two & seal up. For piece of mind, a zip tie will do but again, not needed. It's why they're hard to pull off after they have been on. If you are using something else, get something that is...
Pull, yank, cut. Doesn't matter. They're designed to bond after some head cycles to seal well. It's why those plastic tees are a throw away item in my opinion.
Even if that gets wasted, it's better than a full tank (or more if AUX is being used) being wasted when the existing one leaks the first time you run it overnight & it decides to spew. Then you are out the fuel & power. Changing them out is not fun no matter the route you go, but making sure it...
EDIT: I read wrong, sorry . ORIGINAL So the belt wasn't turning the alternator as it should have & wasn't making a squeal? That means it's likely your water pump wasn't running either. As long as it wasn't run for a prolonged time, you'll be fine. Do a nice long load test to be sure all is well.
I thought so. Either way, a lot of people come onto the threads to see & I just figured I'd share the information anyways.
Stay warm! It got to 27deg here this morning. Please come get that. Luckily, back to 70's by noon. I like Christmas morning in shorts, outside, having an iced tea. :p
I was just being me! I know not everyone is me, haha. Not everyone gets as excited as I do to just make an old engine come to life or is able to. Beside, I grew up in CT. Even without the physical challenges you have, I'd be hiding next to a wood stove by this time & not wanting to exist. I love...
I was a little worried I would cause more damage or something as with all of them, I hadn't seen one that stacked up yet! It didn't show any of the other signs of it like the ooz at the muffle gasket, etc.
Home heating oil is just diesel fuel with anti-gel and red dye pre mixed. Same stuff that goes into excavators at the job site up north. I mix PRI-D with everything I have. I have burned diesel that sat for well over a year with no issues. I own nothing but diesel vehicles & equipment. Some will...
Get rid of the horrible controller that comes with it, support a great member here, and do the 30 minuet install. You will save yourself a lot of headache. :)
I let it soak with ATF in both the tops of the cylinders & more. It cleaned a lot out. But thinking one of the valves is not letting a cylinder fire right. Probably all chunked up. Exhaust gets into the crank case. All making sense now...
I have had that chugging intermittently happen for 3 reasons in this order from simplest to worst;
-fuel/water separator saturated and/or fuel filter clogged at the top. It will not just separate water, it will absorb it if there is a LOT of it & it will stop the flow of fuel. This mixed with a...
