Is it possible to plot a course home via secondary roads? Even if nothing goes wrong mechanically, the words "travel slowly" and " Interstate" don't go together.
Jack has an M221 tractor at his yard that got rear ended by a commercial truck doing 80 mph...the M221 driver did not survive.
There are several reasons for going rear engine:
The stock LMTV is front heavy. I notice that when negotiating technical off road obstacles. I removed the 2400 # bed because the rear corners would dislodge boulders from the side of the trail which blocked the road for those who follow me. That...
Got the steering lines routed, new fittings, hoses, fluid, all buttoned up. At least SOMETHING is done.
Relocating the steering box to the diagonally opposite corner of the chassis was way more difficult and expensive than I imagined:
-redrilling the frame
-shortening the brake actuator on...
So is it a M1078 with a different cab or M715 with different motor + big tires? I read of a trucking company locally that wrecked a truck requiring a new cab; the paperwork follows the cab. So, Kaiser-Jeep it is.
Hi Joaquin,
I was researching a reverse rotation xfer case , trying to remember if there were any 2 speed offerings in standard rotation. I will check my notes. I can't say much because I haven't done it.
Delete the hydraulic kneeling circuit. I understand some of us still load their FMTV onto C130s so need it, but for the rest of us it is useless complexity.
I considered splitting the circuit then using the cylinders as suck down winches, but got over it.
Front gladhand delete. Nearly every "How come my brakes don't work right?" problem traces back to one of the three pneumatic valves that support front glad hand functionality.
Bypass the reverse polarity box. Gain 0.7 volts diode drop, lose a common corrosion location.
Delete one of the two series battery strings. Running two batteries is easier on the goofy dual voltage alternator. The exception would be for large electrical load application, such as a shelter...
Status of the conversion. It's been too dang hot to work on it. September weather will probably kick my butt as well, so maybe some good progress in October?
