I'm going to order some Viton tubing soon, had some other 1/8" fuel hose to use temporarily on the line that was leaking. McMaster is $6.60 ft + $10 shipping now. Duda Diesel has it for $3.58 ft but shipping is $18....
Good idea on making the plugs, don't know why I couldn't think of...
Hey all, just thought I would post a "final" update about the alternator bracket. Had a bunch of other work I ended up getting into, but I finally got around to getting the passenger side stock alternator upper bracket I got from Hillbilly Wizard changed out, with the hacked one that was on the...
Well, I'm glad you brought this up about the return lines. Instead of a coolant leak, I found I had diesel fuel leak. It was the main return line connected to the hardline on the passengers side. I had bought some UV dye and put it in the coolant system, a couple days later I drove to town and...
Good question. Where I park I always have to back out before I can put it into drive. Next time I'll park the other way around and see if it does the same thing in drive. Either way, I thought it could be torque converter leaking down. I did have the cooler lines off about.... 2 years ago...
Well the original one's were cracked and splitting at the connection points where the clamps were. The first "new" one's I put on were the actual OEM kit. I don't know if they were NOS or what, but they didn't last.
I did not know that silicone rubber was permeable. Thanks for the info...
Just an update. I removed the locking hub guts again, removed outer axle nut and lock washer. Loosened inner axle nut all the way. Retorqued to 50lbs while turning wheel. Loosened and torqued to 50lbs again as per TM. Then loosened inner axle nut half a turn. reinstalled lock washer and...
wow... forgot this thread... five years ago... I need to read through it just to see what I have done to the truck before, as I have forgotten a lot of it now.
just so I don't continue to leave this thread hanging... I did end up replacing the heads with reman 6.5 heads, can't remember now how...
I have used that in most electrical connections. Can't remember if I put any in these new bulb sockets though. But I switched those two bulbs w/sockets with two other sockets/bulbs in other spots on the cluster (i think seatbelt and.... forgot the other). The place I put the original two, they...
I just replaced the "flexible" circuit board on the back of the cluster a month or so ago with a brand new one. Cleaned the main plug and everything, and it was working fine at that time.
And this time I plugged and unplugged it several times, making sure it was fully seated. I don't know...
well my temp light nor my low coolant light come one when I turn the key to the "on" position, nor after I start the truck. They worked perfectly after I replaced the sensors a couple months ago. Have no idea what happened. All I did was pull the cluster out to push the speedometer cable fully...
temp light doesn't come on whether it is grounded or not. so I don't know if it's working either. thing is I just replaced both of these sensors a couple months ago and they were working fine
well at least my temp light might work. low coolant isn't though, even if I unplug from sensor which would leave an open circuit it should turn on light. but nothing. oh well
screw it, I'm putting it back together, i have too much other work to keep fooling with this. need truck tomorrow.
I always keep check on fluids anyway, have a small antifreeze leak that i cant locate thus far. going to try some uv dye and see..
have no way to know if temp light works, if she...
changed the leds back to regular 194 bulbs, still nothing
would have had this done in 30 to 45 min. but no, something else had to quit working for no apparent reason.....
switched those two bulbs/sockets with two others, bulbs were fine as they worked in other spots. temp and low coolant lights still don't light up.
TM said low coolant light is supposed to come on when key is first turned on, doest say about temp light.
checked wires on both new sensors...
hey guys, question: are the temp light and low coolant light (below speedometer) supposed to come on when you first turn on key??
just had to pull instrument cluster again as I didn't get my speedometer cable plugged fully in, and tested my dash lights before closing her backup, and those two...
before I pit the calipers on, it would turn free. but it wasn't like you could just spin it and it continue to go much before it stopped
going to ha e to take it back apart and retorque then loosenhalf a turn
I'm guessing the TM is wrong about torque on front bearings too? as in after final tightening to 50lbs, loosen to fit locknut on pin? probably should have backed off half a turn I'm guessing. just got wheels on and took it for a short drive, probably 2 miles, half on gravel road. was testing...
