Great looking M1009. CUCVRUS did a great job, and it sounds like you are enhancing it. I have read some articles about the stringent safety inspections in the EU. I'd be interested in hearing more about what you had to do. I guess that may be included in PART 2. I already saw that you had...
It was evident firsthand at the East Coast Military Vehicle Rally in Churchville, MD some years back. It rained during the show, and the roads in, out, and around the show were fields of mud. Trucks and cars were getting stuck. I saw several guys with restored vehicles actually turning around...
Nice looking truck, Alex. Cool recovery story. The inside of the cab looks very clean from the one picture. My wife is Russian and I keep telling her that I want an Ural 4320. So far, she's not going for it. But, she once agreed that I should get an M1015A1 when I was pricing out a T-72...
Or, you could buy my military-issue tire jack. It works with singles or duals. $75. It comes with a nylon safety rope, although the rope has seen better days (the jack, inself, is fine and works well).
I had a 1967 M543A2 that had the direct drive transmission. I don't know anything about its history other than I bought it from the State of Delaware and it came to me like that.
Does the truck have the overdrive or direct drive transmission? Top speed will be a bit higher with the overdrive transmission, but I prefer the direct drive transmission for use and local driving. Check the data plate near the steering wheel that shows the maximum speeds in each gear. It may...
Welcome and congratulations on the new acquisition. The M35A2C w/w trucks were fairly rare as most came wo/w. Is it an original truck that came out that way (check the data plate), or did the original owner add the winch? It is fine either way. I am just curious.
Congratulations. The 4 color MERDC camo scheme is definitely a rare one for the M939 series trucks. I have only ever seen a handful come out with the 4 color scheme. Good luck with the truck!
This looks like the unit: https://www.21tsc.army.mil/About-Us/Units/16th-Sustainment-Brigade/18th-Combat-Sustainment-Support-Battalion/
I am not sure about the other side. I bet someone else with chime in to interpret those numbers. Maybe MC stands for Maintenance Company. I am unsure.
Tato, unless you already know, I'd suggest gently sanding down the tan sections on the bumper to reveal the unit the truck was with. I always enjoy learning about the history of my trucks if it can be figured out.
Really nice looking truck. The headboard is wrong for an A2C (dropside truck). Ask Dave Newman or Bill Peaslee to get you the correct headboard. If they don't have one, they are around. Your truck is one of the later ones with the dual circuit brake system, which is much safer. Good luck!
I gave the findings a quick reading, and it appears that it only applies to vehicles 10,000 pounds and lower (the vehicle in question happens to be an M1009). Is that accurate? If that is correct, this case law may not be useful to those owning larger vehicles. If this is correct, some of the...
