I always wanted a UTV with an enclosed cab with A/C and heat. I could never stomach the cost. I got my Ranger from my brother for FREE! It is a 2007 and it had only 56 hours on it (I have owned it for about three years). I could not pass up FREE. It does everything I need and more. But...
I want to preface my comments by saying I don't have one and really know nothing about them, other than what I read on this site or watch on YouTube. I personally think they are fairly cool looking. To me, they look like a more modern M151. My big problem with them is that several (many?)...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I see a prior poster (G744) said that he thinks the Goodyears look better. I have had trucks with the Goodyears on them, but I thought the XLs were the more aggressive looking off road tire (back in the day...now I prefer the XZLs). There was a point...
The "wavy" sidewall is how the tires come from the factory. I had multiple sets of new tires back in the day. The XLs were my go to tire. I used to get them from John Winslow in NC (God rest his soul). I put them on everything years ago. Now, I wouldn't touch them, but it has nothing to do...
As Wes stated, the XLs are generally 18+ years old at this point. They are NOT failing because there is some inherent design flaw. They are not prone to blow outs or failure per se. They just are old tires at this point. If we were in 1999 or 2001, those tires would be the best you could...
Sorry for the multitude of posts, but I have a lot of thoughts on this. About five years ago, it snowed about 34 inches in my area, with more in drifts. I took my M925A2 out and it pulled it's way through the snow up and down paved hills. I have a video somewhere. I'll try to locate it on an...
...and I concur with the chains suggestion. I used to have an M125 ten ton cargo. It was not the greatest in snow. One time, I attempted to blast through drifts of up to 4 feet with regular snow in the 24-32 inch range. The truck made it, but it took a lot of backing up and forging ahead. I...
I previously read a military report from the 50s on the super singles. Recall that the military tried singles in the 50s on 2-1/2 and 5 ton trucks while simultaneously also using duals on the same trucks. The singles were actually deemed superior to the duals off-road in both mud and snow...
I wonder what the stump in the M105A2 weighs. That trailer is really squatting down. I've had around 8,000 pounds of seasoned hardwood in mine, and it never squatted down like that.
All of the M939 series trucks start in first gear. FMTVs start out in second gear unless you manually move the transmission into first before starting out.
I suggest you specify what you need moved to see who can help. It would help to know what kind of vehicle would be needed to move stuff from the outdoor site to 2801 WCN Drive. Also, when this would need to be done would be helpful.
Welcome to the site.
It sounds like it is a 1996 M1078.
My suggestion is to get it hauled. Better to learn about the truck when it is in your driveway, as opposed to on the side of the road. Good luck!
I think the brakes should release well before reaching 118 pounds. The air governor may be on the firewall. Find it on your truck and then send them a picture of it. I am not positive it will look identical, but I wouldn't doubt it either.
I had a RED DOT kit in my now-gone M925A2 (with a soft top no less) and I found it to be plenty cool. I never measured the temperature, but I never had a complaint with its performance. I recall once having it out a 90+ degree day and I eventually turned it down. I did eventually switch to a...
I believe the one that Midwest Military had and sold was the one that was for sale in Iowa. I noticed that it was the same truck, just with a higher price tag. :)
