    My (new) M1008...

Well, some updates. Found that this "pink" wire is very faded purple :) So starter solenoid wire is finally found (and i am probably colorblind). Starter come back from shop, was in good condition, they only lubed bushings. Installed starter, swiched on electric fuel pump and cranked engine...

Rebuilding after 15 years of storage

ah, ok. Those symptoms - bad power and dies when released gas pedal, are most likely worn pump itself. You can try to run thru it some strong diesel cleaner, chance is that there is some gunk or debris in IP.

Rebuilding after 15 years of storage

Are you sure this new IP was correctly rebuilt, not just gaskets and O-rings replaced?

    My (new) M1008...

Todays progress: finished original wiring restore (GP and start); found fuel heater wires (connectors on car and on filter assembly were different), greased heater fan, it is running again, cleared slightly melted fuse 5 socket (seized fan). Found that rear lights wiring is totally F**** up...

    My (new) M1008...

Keith, yes IP went in, all lines connected, no problems at all. First i connected lines to injectors by hand, then to IP. Two lower were more difficult, others were easy. I used 5/8 normal wrench. Left injector lines slightly open for priming. Turned fuel up by 1/8 turn. And set pump timing half...

New M1009 in Spain (my hulk)

Lots of IP changes within few days here :) Great job! If your known firefighter does good job, maybe he is willing to take my old IP for renovation too? Shipping wise Spain is closer than USA....

    My (new) M1008...

OK, got this old sucker out finally. Tomorrow i install new IP. My new IP is: J9 DB2829-4790 ( 1990 LD C/K, R/V & G Van (Auto. Trans.) G) and old: A0 DB2829-4267 ( 1984-85 CUCV (Military), HD C/K, D) There are notes: C/K — Injector - 84 mm length, 6 mm dia. nozzle valve; Lines - 2.50 mm...

New DB2 injection pump housing marks differ from old DB2 pump

I have same question. I THINK, that as all pumps are timed/set internally from rebuilder, it is wise to line timing marks. But i am may be wrong...

Jumping off the injection pump bridge

Put plugs to every injector and also injector lines. Keep them clean. Also after removing intake, cover holes in engine. You dont want any dirt in there.

    My (new) M1008...

Thanks! Yes, thats what i thought - when IP off, i have access to this small cover. So 1/4 turn is safe and with HD specs? By timing, i mean when engine is running - by marks on IP body (here are lots of good topics about this procedure). Or leave marks, as they are IF truck runs OK? I have...

    My (new) M1008...

OK, located and secured used pump from 86 LD C/K truck here (dont remember exact # DB2-45xx). Truck is civilian of course. Well, what left for it anyways :D Should i dial fuel up slightly, before install? And when installed and running, timing of course?

    M1008 - wrong thermostat housing?

    My (new) M1008...

Keith, yes, it should. But without cranking (electric fuel pump)? I get nothing. Not in fuel bowl, not in transfer pump pressure test/inlet cap lock port (what should be connected to vent wire passage) My logic says that there is low pressure area of IP (inlet screen-regulator...

    My (new) M1008...

OK, found screen from France, ordered and waiting. In mean time i remove supply pump and also check and clean delivery valve. Thank you all for help and great ideas. Question: if i put inlet cap on without supply pump and pressure regulator and give to IP fuel with good pressure - can fuel go...

    My (new) M1008...

Yes, inside this gunk is soft. I am worried that screen is completely gone - those particles does not do good inside IP (plastic but still). It is tricky to remove supply pump, i can move liner but blades stay still on rotor. And they are spring loaded :) I sprayed all supply pump side with rust...

    My (new) M1008...

Yeah, ran out brake cleaner :) Tomorrow i take transfer pump off. As you can see, between supply pump rotor, there is some sludge. What is behind it, i dont know jet. After that, i probably can not deassembly IP anymore, without removing it from engine.

    My (new) M1008...

OK, lets pictures talk themselves: this i put in original full size: So as you see, gunk is everywhere (soft and black this time), screen is completely gone. I have´nt removed transfer pump jet, maybe some recommendations ot thoughts before i start with it? In my eye all looks bad as it...

    My (new) M1008...

Well, there was fuel in upper bowl, when i got car and tried to start it. Afterwards i changed diesel in bowl with ATF. And after week with diesel additive. When i cranked engine, bowl was still full. As i understand, if there is blockage on inlet, no fuel is moving inside IP or to injectors? Of...
