Self Canceling Turn Signal - NOT the wheel ring

This is why I disabled mine and run it manually. I'm used to it now, so it's not a factor. Let me tell you, the first time I tried to turn the wheel and the tab bound everything up, my bowels were nearly loosed.

    Knock/Bumping Sound

I ran into this on my HMMWV and it was the shackles swinging around on the front bumper. I secured them with zip ties and the noise stopped.

I think my head gasket failed

No judgment as we all have budgets for things, but those P400 heads are THE heads to get for the 6.5. If you have the possibility of Chinesium heads working for $1,100 + the time to install or $2,500 for an upgraded component that you know will work the first time and not necessitate you taking...

I think my head gasket failed

No idea if this fits, but figured it was worth a look: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pmx-che855n

Latest M1167 purchase. Too far gone? Or should I rebuild.

Possible stupid question - could the GFD be converted back to a cadillac/clutch setup? Would that conversion be enough to justify saving the vehicle?

How does HMMWV shut down? Fuel shut off solenoid questions.

IIRC The saying, “Watch out for the first step, it’s a doozy!” Is regarding this exact situation but regarding the Deusenberg Coaches being prone to this issue, back in the day.

Procedure to remove all the interior "hush" panels?

On my M1123 the floor ones were held in by the strip and few bolts by the base of the seat, maybe a bolt by the top by the firewall, but I think it's just floating up there. Same for the passenger side. The rear ones are just floating.

    Cooling issues

This. Worth noting - even if you're getting 24v to the wire, make sure they're making solid contact at the plug male/female (seated, dielectric grease, tight). I ran into a very similar issue, my fan was on full time, I was completely unaware as I was new to the vehicle, I couldn't figure out...

Which states are not HMMWV friendly?

Illinois is not friendly, despite the fact that the State issued Military Vehicle license plates a few years back. Got mine tagged in Utah.

Interesting Response from Vermont DECLINING my HMMWV Registration

Aye, all pertinent info regarding the vehicle is addressed to my Illinois address. They send mailers bi-annually asking you to verify insurance coverage. Re-registering was around $75 and I went online and gave them CC info, got a tag in the mail a few weeks later. It wasn’t cheap at first...

Interesting Response from Vermont DECLINING my HMMWV Registration

I used them as HMMWVs are verboten in Illinois. Got a title and plate from Utah for about $700+ tax. Not cheap, but I didn’t want to mess about with trying another state and then the possible headache of washing an “Off-road vehicle” title. It was a quick and easy process.

M1123 did not shift in last gear

Unless someone retrofitted a 700r4, you have the 4L80E in the M1123.

Has anyone attempted to make their own hard doors?

@Eslurf might be of more help, those are his videos. I have a set of Arctic doors and am kicking around the idea of hard doors if for no other reason than to have functional windows.

    Hmmwv reliability

In my opinion, they get a bad reputation in service because they're generally maintained by relatively inexperienced mechanics and driven like hell by inexperienced drivers who aren't paying the repair costs- think rental car. When they hit the secondary market, they're a crapshoot. Now you...

    Two silly oil change questions...

Thank you! I figured a yearly interval with about 1,000 miles would be reasonably safe, but wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything reckless.
