The Laramie County Toys For Tots campaign kick off is at 1800 (6:00pm) on 7 October. Then there’s the annual Cheyenne Christmas Parade on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Then there’s at least two events, “Stuff a Truck” on the first weekend after the parade and “Stuff a Sleigh” on the second...
Socks are priceless! I know quite a few times as a young Marine, I’d have greatly appreciated some nice socks (non-horrible wool socks). The absolute best socks I’ve found are Thorlos. The ones I’m wearing now I’ve had for over five years. Make sure you use fabric softener and they’ll last a...
On a nearby military base, 15-20 years ago, I saw an entire regiment/battalion/not sure of pontoon carrying trucks. There was two (maybe more) trucks with boats on board. My memory is extremely fuzzy about the details but with the amount of equipment, I’d guess they could put a bridge across the...
Thanks to all, I was able to get a handle on this problem. The air pack was full of air. Once I got it purged, I started getting some resistance on the brake pedal. Now it’s just matter of purging the rest of the wheel cylinders.
Not sure where the brake fluid went. There’s some oil leakage but...
No, that’s what I’m doing next. Usually (every time I’ve bled truck brakes) I start at the cylinders. I’ve never seen this before. Best bet would be moving to the air pack before I do anything else?
Got a problem with my M35A2 brakes. After sitting for a long while, I started getting it ready for the upcoming parades. It started great, runs great and has no brakes. The pedal went to the floor without resistance. I checked the reservoir, no fluid. Added fluid then started bleeding the...
Started cleanup under the cab. What a mess. Some surface rust, that doesn’t appear to difficult to repair. Dirt, mud (70 year old dirt!) grease, oil and unidentifiable coatings on everything. Removed all the connection links for cleanup. No pictures. I heard we ain’t allowed to post dirty pictures 😝
Got the cab tipped back. It was a pain, literally. I bonked me head again 🤕. It’s going to be a chore getting it cleaned up. One small area is going to need some additional attention to detail. Somehow the rear corner panel got crunched before I got it. Pics:
Mine is a bit better condition. It has the usual cracked dash. The door panels are loose and the seats have had the tarnation stomped out of them. When I got it, it still had carpeting and insulation. After pulling everything out I trashed the carpet and insulation. There were a few very small...
Had something go very right for a change. I’ve been stink eyeing the pitman arm for a long time. Didn’t have the correct tool nor could I make a tool that would do the job. Last summer I bought a bunch of tools at an estate sale. Within the collection was an odd “U” shaped tool. I knew it was...
I’ve got a STE/ICE. I’ve used it on my M35 and M1009. The M1009 has one of those giant plugs. In a weird kind of way it adds to the “militaristic” look. It’s one of those things that you may never use but if you need it, you need it now.
Been busy. Yard sale season is starting and already found some good deals. Also got quite a bit done to the G506. Everything aft of the cab has been cleaned, fixed as necessary and primered. Got the gas tank mounts installed, the shocks installed and all the springs cleaned, primered and...
The master cylinder is set up like most cars and trucks. There’s the master cylinder, a power booster and the four wheel cylinders. I’ve got a power bleeder, actually two of them. One for Dot 3 and one for Dot 5. I think Dot 3 was used so that’s what I’m going to service the entire brake system...
Got to shop twice this week. Both rear leaf spring stacks are now installed. Getting the rear axle repaired currently in progress. Decided to purge the brake line attached to the axle. Glad I did! The PO had problems with the brakes and took it to a shop. Supposedly, a bunch of work got done...
