I installed this in one of the deuces. Was a light for the deuce cargo area. Is nice as you can flip over to the red light to keep your night vision (switch is three position white/off/red). There are also connections for power on the side.
Have another few sets sitting around. They are pretty...
I don't have a good pic, but here is the one in my truck. We changed the generator (originally had a very old generator/welder combo unit that was hacked up), but the compressor is original. Like I said before, mine was already wired for 110v, but on the wiring box on the compressor there is a...

Most are gone. They only have so many. Expect them to be all sold in the next few years.
What type of compressor do you have in your truck? The one in the back of mine was wired up for 110v, but it can also be changed to run on 220v if needed.
Nope, that truck looks no good.
But I will be a good guy and take it off your hands for cheap!
She looks good. Will make a good zombie apocalypse truck.
Hey, that is okay. This thread will still be here when you do get to her.
Just glad you are doing something with her to keep her going. So many of these have gone to scrap over the years simply because of the price of scrap metal. We scrapped one a few years ago, but it was way beyond repair...
Pretty much what steelandcanvas said. The OP asked and people gave their opinions. No one is being made to do anything.
If you say you can get the engine rebuilt for less than $1000, that is a pretty decent price. It cost us nearly $1200 to get an M37 engine rebuilt around here.
We rebuilt...
Yup that is the older M135/M211 series of trucks. All of them originally came with a gmc gasser engine. It isn't super strong, but it will still get you around no problem. Parts are fairly easy to find for it if needed.
She looks pretty good from that one picture.
Never heard of a larger one. And I think a larger one might cause clearance problems where it sits between the frame and cab and any equipment you might have installed. Any longer or lower and the tank will likely get smacked going off road. Though that doesn't mean large tanks don't exist...
The correct cover for the time period would be one made from actual canvas, but I would suggest one of the newer vinyl ones (99% of people will not know the difference) as they are lighter (canvas is darn heavy) and much easier to find. Pretty much any cover from a current M35 will fit on it...
If you don't mind loosing the under-body mount for the spare tire, you could get an in frame fuel tank from an older suburban and put it back there to start. You just need to weld in some brackets, but they fit (basically the exact same frame). Then put an additional tank in the bed. That would...
They are not super rare, but are becoming harder and harder to find, so rare is a word that is becoming more attached to these trucks. So it can be a shame if you do a lot of extensive upgrades at times.
But in the end it is your truck, so you have every right to do what you want to it. Though...
Sorry but I really hate it..........because I am jealous and want one myself!
Get out of my head and stop stealing my ideas!
Good work. Keep it up!
Iltis are nice little jeeps. You can find some cheap that need work. Good project to work on.
I would also not recommend an iltis as a starter vehicle or daily driver. Better to get a civi cheap car or truck instead. But the iltis would make a good project vehicle.
Let us know if you have any...
Looking good. Gives me second thoughts about bringing our parts MKT to scrap last year. Though we did get $1,200 just in aluminum.
Make sure you keep us up to date with lots of pictures!
I agree they are pretty darn hard to find. I have a couple friends that after seeing my trucks want some M1008's but they are like hens teeth at the moment. There actually is one for sale locally, but it is beat up and the guy wants a fortune.
Spoke to the GL guys at Ford Drum and they told me...
