Some additional photos of Toys For Tots. In addition to the obvious Christmas lights, I put together a home made sound system. The lights are LED and are powered from a 750 watt inverter. I found a brand new, still in the packaging, 12 volt AM/FM cassette car stereo at a yard sale for $5.00...
Here’s my 1972 AmGen M35A2 Toys For Tots truck. It’s led the Cheyenne Christmas Parade for the past 8 years. Every year we use it help collect toys both during the parade and at other Toys For Tots events. Last year we collected 16,850 toys, 70+ bicycles which helped 1,432 kids have a great...
I crisscrossed a couple lines. I figured it out pretty quick though. Was replacing the injection pump and got a bit confused putting it all back together.
Got some more done today. Fixed broken ground for the RH fuel tank and installed the the RH fuel tank deck plate. Surprisingly, it fit with minimal swearing. And I took some pics of the installed parts plus the repair on the LH fuel line.
More pics. Patched the fuel line on the LH tank, found out that when hanging the fuel tank shields, the brackets get bolted to the shield, then install the assembly onto the spare tire carrier.
Truly a sad day. May he Rest In Peace. Psalm 23: 4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my...
Thank you for the info. I won’t be able to tow anything with this truck for quite a while, no trailer. Also, there’s a few missing parts on the fifth wheel, which renders it unusable at this time. I do appreciate the info though, one of these days I hoped to find all the pieces and parts to make...
That sounds like a perfect setup! It takes big iron to straighten big iron! With the older 2 1/2 tons and 5 tons disappearing from the surplus market, we have to get physical to make replacement parts.
I got rained out yesterday, didn’t get anything done. So today I drilled the holes for the rivets to pass through the deck plate. One I find a soldier B, I torqu the bolts down. The fuel tank protective plate mount brackets were damaged when I bought the spare tire carrier. No big deal, cleaned...
Took some pics of the 5th wheel installation and the spare tire carrier. The 5th wheel plates came from a M818 and the spare tire carrier came from a M931. The adapter plates for the spare tire carrier came off a Big Foot M931A1. Not all a perfect fit but with sharp drill bits and a bunch of...
My search is finally over. No, I didn’t find a set of M52 spacers. Hendersonj found a set of M818 spacers. They weren’t a direct fit. The rails on the M52 have rivets sticking up. The M818 does not. So it took many, many, many, many..... trips back and forth from the truck to the drill press...
Two M52 reactors were converted to gun trucks in the Vietnam War. That’s all I know about anyway. Both used M35 beds. They didn’t keep the spare tire carriers. Not sure if they used the M35 carriers. For the most part, as near as I can tell, the spare tires were carried in the bed and integrated...
With your truck being a 5 ton, your imagination is the only limit. I’ve seen pictures of gun trucks in the desert. A tribute built around Iron Horse’s legacy would be the stuff. Can you put a deuce bed on the back? I was going to go that route with my M52A2. It was more than I could handle so I...
