Took the truck to Les Schwab and the second the technician saw the truck he said "no". He elaborated that "his system" doesn't have the specs for that truck in it and he cannot manually enter specs so it is impossible for him to do it. Wouldn't even budge on it. So I took the truck 100 feet down...
There are guides if you google it but yes, its as straightforward as it seems. Take the upper control arms off and remove the appropriate number of shims to get the camber where you want it. I am happy to do most things myself but this is one of those things that I would rather pay for a few...
I have an appointment with Les Schwab this Saturday for an alignment. Were they willing to do a full alignment including adjusting the shims for camber? I set up the appointment online and figured I'd call them in the morning to see if they will even work on this thing before I waste my time.
Yes exactly this. If you aren't a weirdo like me that wants that feature to work (but will never ever actually use it) save yourself the trouble and install a normal CDR valve and save some money and hassle.
If it's the same de-mil mine went through, they removed the CDR valve, the deep ford selector valve, and the sensor cup. Everything else was still intact so I just bought new ones of those and installed them. Now it's functional again.
Finally got the top installed. It was one of the most frustrating endeavors I have ever undertaken (and I work on fighter jets for a living). I'll get more pictures of it tomorrow but I have a few questions that hopefully I can get some help with.
1.) Any ideas on how to repair this rubber...
I just installed the Midwest Military Equipment 4 man top over the last few days. Let me know if you have any questions. If it helps at all, I would not purchase it again if I could do it over.
You have a 4L80e where the "e" stands for electronic. Which means the transmission is electronically controlled. That being said, there are about a dozen basic things that could cause what you describe. Is your truck stuck in first gear or is it in second? If it's in second, it's probably in...
Can you disconnect the wire going to the starter solenoid and hook a multimeter up to it? Would let you check for voltage there so you can troubleshoot without burning up your starter. Will also tell you if it's a PCB or a starter issue. If you have 24v there after releasing the start switch...
If the new brackets that they sent are the same dimensions as the OEM ones, I'll definitely have to get creative to make them fit. Might just cut notches out so the bracket fits over. There shouldn't be any forces pulling upwards so I think that would work. Fingers crossed they just send...
Exactly! The OEM rails have flush threaded inserts. The new rails have inserts that protrude. There's no way they will work unless I absolutely just mash the brackets on.
Just did my weekly GP status update call-in. They said their notes showed my paperwork was submitted to the USMC for signature last friday. So this is actually something new I am being told. Hopefully it is a sign I will get my SF97 in the next 2-3 weeks.
Also, I don't know what fasteners you plan to use but this PN 12339397-1 RUBBER WELLNUT 10-32 for 3/8 HOLE might be a better match since the TM parts diagram calls out 10-32 fasteners and this PN looks closer to what was in my truck albeit much less disintegrated. I'll probably be ordering these...
Dang nabbit! I just put in an order with Mac two days ago. Guess I'll put these in the cart for the next batch of parts.
It is hard for me to tell from the pictures but your side rails might be the same as mine. Do your bow frame brackets fit over the rivnuts or do they get stuck like in this...
Yes, I'm definitely starting to notice the "hand made" build quality of these trucks. Gives them a little character.
At this point the kit hasn't exactly been plug and play like I would have hoped. I'll have to wait and see what the hardware I receive does before passing final judgement. I'm...
Got some 10-32 well nuts at Home Depot that fit perfectly. That allowed me to move one step farther and find the next issue with the kit. The brackets that mount the bow frame to the side rails don't fit over the side rails because they used different rivnuts than the OEM rails which are more...
