    1952 M135 W/O Winch (USMC 00-08s other truck)

I take it, they surplused it out of the fire dept. cause of the "max speed 35" sign on the dash. Hard to live up the expression "you in a hurry, where's the fire," when the mopeds are passing yah. I know bad joke. Look forward to seeing and hearing the beast fire up. Would be interested in your...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

Awesome thanks! I knew you would come through. I remember you helping plowboy... just didn't find it in his thread!

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

Not to hijack the thread...but I remember seeing a tutorial lesson from another ahab on pointing arrows and pictures....could we get a refreshing. Would be handy when pointing out objects on existing pics

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

I'll bet where you are located you have a bunch of humidity with your cold. Here we are dry, so its not too bad. Funny how those snow storms work around here...takes a number of them before people remember to slow down. Well if nothing else it looks as though you have a great start on getting...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

Looks dreamy, haha. Our last snow storm we got 2'. After that we were at -15F with 30-40mph winds. We are suppose to get another 2' tomorrow night. Depends where you are in the states. Know a gal from buffalo, NY who said its not totally uncommon to get 6-8' in a night. Nice video of the truck...

    Project XM211

Glad to hear you're gonna continue...I too have the problem of finding too many projects for myself, and when I don't, they find me. Its fatiguing enough to restore a small vehicle then take on a large vehicle with tools needed that arent in the average toolbox, just compounds the problem. Looks...

    Project XM211

I looked through your pictures and you've done a really nice job on your truck. Restoration definitely is a money sink when you are in the middle of it, but looks like you've got most of the expense taken care of. In my opinion, most restorations bring less than people have into them, and if you...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

So just got off the phone with Tom at Alfa Haven and he said it is no problem to mismatch these bell-housing halves. His opinion was it was the military being anal about keeping them together, and that chances are there are more across the world that aren't matched than are. Just his thoughts...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

Here is one of the paragraphs in the TM stating that they must all remain as a matched set-C.Flywheel Housing Rear Half Installation

G749 Trucks hard to come by

That would make logical sense to me as well, I'm not sure where that leaves me however with an engine with only front half of the bell housing. I could see military personnel and arsenal rebuilding depos having the correct service procedures, but it would seem very abnormal to me that you would...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

So I need some help from the g749 geniuses-been reading the TM 8024 and on pages 375 and 380 it states that the front and back bellhousings are matched to the engine and they should be kept together. Matter of fact they show that a serial number tag is present in the front and back ball housings...

    m211 stuck in low range

Will it not shift into to high-like physically can't pull it into high? I know USMC has a truck that when shifted to high range it kills the engine. With the engine off can you shift it to high? Sorry, I'm not much help to you, but am interested in condition

    m211 stuck in low range

Will it go to neutral, or does it remain in low no matter what? Is the linkage stuck and need oiling?

G749 Starter and Generator questions-input needed

Next, take your brass drift and move to the nose of the starter. Drive the armature out of the starter gently. There is a good chance you can grab it at the back of the starter and pull it out. We will need to spend sometime inspecting and working this armature over, but for now we'll set it...

G749 Starter and Generator questions-input needed

Two pictures looking at the brush plate and springs. There is a bushing that is in the back of the plate that the armature rides in. This is replaceable. Also, the brushes are replaceable. It is important to check the brush plate, and look it over. All the springs need to be operable and push...

G749 Starter and Generator questions-input needed

Next, and I don't have a picture of it, is to remove two hex headed bolts that run the length of the starter case. These bolts hold the brush holder plate to the back of the starter. Remove the bolts. Looking within the back of the starter--two(of the 4) brushes are grounded to the brush plate...

G749 Starter and Generator questions-input needed

First thing I did was remove the starter switch from the case of the starter. Then bend the tabs on the back of the starter cover. Using a brass drift gently tap around the cover to remove it from the case.

G749 Starter and Generator questions-input needed

Getting my thoughts organized here, but got the starter on the M211 pulled. More pictures and procedures on tearing down to follow. This starter was more dirty than anything, yet I would sooner tear it down, clean it, and make sure it is functional, and maybe prevent failure in the future. Parts...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

Not able to play with the 211 today...Weve had 2' of snow and now 30-40mph winds. Snow Drifts galore! Where's a Plowboy when you need one?
