Today on Facebook Kevin Boyle posted some photos of an M123A1C owned by the Upton Massachusetts Division of Forestry many years ago. It turns out this is my truck, the external cage and the matching door insignia we found while prepping for paint are unmistakable. I never knew my truck was...
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I have a little more work to do on my "Double D Cup Beauty" before I enter it for MV of the month. She's not quite road worthy yet.
Unless someone changed some things around, (and they look pretty original) there were no Mack parts on these trucks. The axles were Timken. The early Diamond T's had the Diamond T emblem embossed on the radiator tank, but the later ones had nothing. The Diamond T's were 4 ton 6x6's, Mack built 6...
Cool pictures, thanks for posting them. I can help with the id's.
The first two are Diamond T 972 (if they are original dump trucks) 4 ton 6x6's.
The third photo is an open cab Diamond T 4 ton 6x6, probably a 968 cargo truck, but hard to say without a rear body.
Last one is another Diamond...
Plowboy, that M26A1 does not look all that bad, especially if it comes with the Hall Scott. I would guess there are at least a dozen of these in the US, and more in Europe. I know of two collectors here that each have three, and three of the six run. The article you posted is pretty good but...
I live in Florida and just went through the process to get a permanent antique tag for my 10 ton M123A1C. It is always an adventure dealing with the DMV. It sounds like you already know that you can not get an antique tag for a large truck through the local DMV office, there is a form you have...
The front tires are 14:00-24 Goodyear All Service and in another place it says "MILITARY OZ". There is no other name on them. Unfortunately the sidewalls are not great and I will need to replace them. I would like to find a set of six of these or something similar as the truck had these type...
Had the 10 ton out for a little sunshine and a test drive this week. Lots of sitting over the past few years didn't do the injection pump any favors, so I just had the injection pump overhauled and now she purrs like a kitten. I also replaced the tachometer as the old one locked up and took out...
Good luck with your 10 ton search. They are great trucks. Shipping costs have at least doubled and sometimes tripled over the past year, so I would try to find one as close to home as possible. I just paid about $3.50 a mile to move mine so you could easily be looking at a 10K shipping bill to...
Thanks for that cool link lol ! Sterling built a lot of interesting trucks for the military during the war, including a huge dual chain drive wrecker for the Navy, but no trucks like my 1950 were built for the military. Unfortunately it is not eligible for MV of the Month, but thanks for the...
