I cannot confirm that. Let's see how long my new zippered ones last. I often think that canvas boots might be best if the truck is not heavily off roaded....but they only exist for the old Deuces

I think the #1 takeaway is to never, ever ask. Just carry the paper and a firm conviction of its validity and pretend you never heard otherwise! [emoji16]

I just installed zippered from Big Mike after the well fitting oversized from Western Canadian Rockwell were torn after 4 years. I really liked those but I'm not ripping the knuckles apart just for boots.
It's just a pleasantly miserable job to do axle boots that takes much longer than you...
No, the "multifuel" capacity is rooted in the engine's design. You do not need the fuel density compensator for that. The FDC measures the viscosity ("thickness") of the fuel and attempts to increase or decrease how much fuel is injected to compensate for the different amount of energy a given...
Fascinating. I was initially more thinking along "which of my contacts can I call to get this guy a MAN D2840 and transmission shipped in a conex?" but you are going wayyyyy beyond that! Looking forward to updates!
@oreo9688 I started on mine by opting for a replacement takeout engine, rather than diagnosing and fixing my knocking, smoking one. Ya, right. I thought..well, before I drop the replacement engine (it was running ok) in, I should do the head gasket because there is a trickle of oil. Seeing I...
Knocking is never good, especially when the oil pressure drops with it.
If you just picked up the truck, you likely planned on servicing it anyway. How do you feel about dropping the oil pan and checking main and rod bearings? Chances are, you find one or more worn. You can put new ones in from...
Thanks @BGR for the pics. Looking good with the bed and it would look even better with the mud flaps front and back. Dunno...the rear view just "doesn't look right" without them! Also, the canvas covers for the shifters (JATONKA) seal up some more of those critter openings into the cab!
Wouldn't it be much easier to go with an already developed solution? Replace the mechanical winch with a hydraulic one off an M35A3? Run everything you want with the hydraulics, with a simple shutoff valve?
Originally, there was a vent tube connected to the MC cap. An MWO was issued at some stage to disconnect that tube and replace it with a breather "mushroom" similar to the axle breathers. My truck had this MWO performed when I got it. The vent line is still there, just dangling disconnected...
From your description I find it difficult to point to a particular issue. Gee whiz...a Deuce making rattling noises....who knew! ;-)
If you suspect that the fan is an issue, check the fan. It should not feel loose when you try to wiggle it. You can take a wrench and check the mounting bolts of...
Well....my truck ad a similar loss of brake fluid, as spotted in the remote reservoir drop. It was sufficient to make me go "uh, oh", but not enough to make me go tear into it and rip it all apart tight away.
And....now it has stopped. No more drop. I refilled and it is steady as a rock. No...
If you are replacing the starter, I'd strongly suggest considering a modern gear reduction starter. Less power draw, smaller, lighter, and much better cranking.
Threads are available here on which models fit...
Add to that - at least here in Ontario, Canada - the luck of the draw when it comes to law enforcement. There are no "this is a personally owned heavy truck" exemptions. Over 12000 lbs/6000 kg. Congratulations, you are commercial. Personally owned and used? Don't care. Log book and annual safety...
The axle boots don't hold anything in, other than whatever grease is around the steering knuckle. They protect the steering knuckle and half shafts from dirt and water intrusion.
My master plan was to service the front end (which I did) and put new one piece boots on (much easier with...
Two years ago, I installed the silicone one piece axle boots from Western Canadian Rockwell. They fit great and seemed to last. Well......both were torn upon inspection earlier this year. I could not relate the tears to either the clamps or the turn angle limiter bolts.
I very much remember...
