A Florence! They were always remarkable on SAC bases, being neither silver nor camo, but sleek shiny white. There was usually a shiny white T-37 around for checkflight to maintain flight pay, but the tweet was memorably small and whistly, rather than sleek.

There can't be many DC-9-30 variants still flying...

I'm curious, because from 1979-1986 I was in Avionics and Electrical Engineering with Mitsubishi Aircraft International here in San Angelo, TX. Some of my original design work on that family of aircraft (originally the MAI MU-300 Diamond-1) is still flying on those beautiful birds.

F-4C, Serial No. 64-0699, credited with downing a MiG-17 on April 23, 1966, has returned to AMARG from Davis-Monthan and is now viewable on display row. Assigned to the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 8th Tactical Fighter Wing at Udorn Royal Thai Air Base, “Mink 04” was flown by Capt R. E. Blake and 1Lt S. W. George when it produced the “Wolfpack’s” first kill with an AIM-7D.


F-15C, Serial No. 79-0022, credited with the downing of a MiG 23 during the Gulf War on Jan 26, 1991.


F-15C, Serial No. 79-0048, used an AIM-7M to down an enemy helicopter gunship on Feb 11, 1991.


F-14 Bureau No. 159437, near the Gulf of Sidra, downs a Libyan MiG 23 on Jan 4, 1989.


The other F-14 that engaged the Libyan MiG -23 Floggers that day was BuNo 159610 and resides at the National Air & Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles airport.

VF-114’s F-4S (F-4J at the time of the conflict), Bureau No. 157245, credited with downing a MiG-21 on 6 May 1972. The aircraft was crewed by Lt Cdr Pete “Viper” Pettigrew and RIO Lt Michael McCabe.


F-4S, Bureau No. 157249, call sign “Linfield 206,” also credited with a MiG-21 kill on May 6, 1972. Pilot, Lt Robert Hughes and RIO Lt Adolph Cruz.

The first C-23B+ Sherpa arrived for storage on July 30. Though still bearing U.S. Army markings, the aircraft was transferred to the United States Forest Service prior to its arrival.

These Sikorsky built MH-60S Seahawks, Bunos 165770 and 165752 arrived for storage from HSC-28 (Dragon Whales) Naval Station, Norfolk on July 28, 2014. The platform's Naval missions were anti-surface warfare, combat support, humanitarian disaster relief, combat search and rescue, aero medical evac, special warfare and organic airborne mine countermeasures.

The storm damaged F-16 that headlined news around the world in mid-July was lifted, turned and re-moduled by the Air National Guard CDDAR (Crash Damaged or Disabled Aircraft Recovery) team along with personnel assigned to AMARG's 578th Storage and Disposal Squadron - August 28, 2014

The first three Army RC-12H aircraft arrived AMARG in August 2014. Based on the King Air A200CT, these aircraft performed as Special Electronic Mission aircraft. The engines have already been reclaimed for reutilization.

When I was stationed at Tyndall , They where shooting down F-102 drones over the gulf ,with the" new F16" from Eglin AFB. I guess I'm just getting Old .

The last A-10C (Serial No. 80-0175) to undergo the helmet-mounted cueing system or HMCS wiring modification at 309 AMARG departed yesterday, Oct 15, 2014. This 10-day mod, which reached the two-year mark this month, included the installation of multiple system wire harnesses, line replacement units (LRUs) and cockpit sensors to work in tandem with the new HMCS helmet. AMARG completed 250 modifications and maintained an exceptional 99.5 percent "On Time" delivery rate! Congratulations AMARG! - Oct 16, 2014
