Swampy how did you study for the test?
I keep getting referred to the commercial license manual? This is from 2016 and does not reference the Class E license.

I didn't study anything. Robert lead the way on this and I followed a couple months later. I just walked in, stated I wanted a Class E, provided my forms of ID and the fee, took the test, had my picture taken and a temporary license was handed to me. The real one came in the mail a week later.
The test itself is simple. An example question on mine was:
When traveling down a hill, what is the proper way to control speed?
a. Normal braking
b. Engine braking
c. Use your feet (or some other random answer)
d. None of the above
I specifically remember this question because this exact question was on my test twice! So really I only had to answer 19 questions, haha.
Seriously, if you know anything about big trucks you'll do fine. I think you can miss 5 questions and still pass. I didn't miss any and didn't have to guess at any of them. They were all basically common sense questions.
There is not an air brake endorsement for this license because it's included already. This license is not for you if you make money with your truck. That's the only restriction. It's perfect for what the majority of us do and want though...unrestricted driving. You can pay a little more and have the license valid for 7 years, I think it was.

Private weighted tag to cover full GVWR ($180/year)
Registered at full GVWR
Insured through Progressive Commercial for full GVWR on a non-commercial policy with unlimited travel distance ($254/year)
Ironclad paperwork and credentials for $434/year...priceless!
