Not entirely-pre-'63, they will not do it whatsoever, even if you have a title in your hand from another state.Actually it's 1985 in GA. I had a 1968 Chevelle from Texas (no title, just bill of sale) to GA (no title, just bill of sale) I have since sold it and the guy in Ohio is trying to title it. Shouldn't be an issue but OH wants everything titled. Not having a title can make the vehicle cheaper as some buyers in some states don't want the hassle of titling it.
Per the DMV's website: (MVD | Is a Title Required for My Vehicle?)
Vehicle Title Optional
- You can title a 1963-1985 year model vehicle if you have a title issued in your name.
- You can title a 1963-1985 year model vehicle if the owner on the front of the title has assigned the title to you.
- You can title a 1963-1985 year model vehicle if the owner on the front of the title has assigned the title to a dealer and the dealer has assigned the title to you.
- A title will not be issued for a 1963-1985 year model vehicle if the vehicle has been registered in someone else's name(s) other than the owner(s) shown on the face of the Georgia title.
Vehicle Title Not Required/Not Issued
- 1962 and older year model vehicles
If you have a 1964-1985 model vehicle, you can get a title. It just has to meet the rules listed above.
We have titles for all of our (clintogf and mine) Deuces, my '69 Satellite, etc. The issue is that when you are at the DMV and ask for the title, they will try to tell you it isn't required. But if you ask nicely, usually they will send it to Atlanta and you'll get a title.
