I do the same thing. My problem is that my SOURCE fuel has a high water content. I've never had a water problem in the truck fuel tank other than that.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
My truck is always full also.I use WMO/diesel/gasoline blend fuel in my Deuce. I have never had a water problem in the fuel system. The tank is almost always full, or at least 2/3 or higher. It rarely gets below half a tank, and if it does, it is only on a trip. When I get back home, I always fill the tank back up. I have drained my primary filter and never saw water come out of it. My truck runs fine and I drive it weekly during the "non-salty road" season. Sometimes I worry because I have never drained water out of my filters, I wonder if they are working as they should. I guess keeping the tank full (keeps air out which means less chance of condensation) and driving it often helps keep water out. It does not cost any more to keep the truck with a full tank vs. not putting much fuel in it, so why not keep it full and better protect the fuel system? That is how I look at it anyway.
How, if at all, does the weather affect the emulsion?I do the same thing. My problem is that my SOURCE fuel has a high water content. I've never had a water problem in the truck fuel tank other than that.
I thought heat helped precipitate water? It seems to be getting clearer as it gets colder. That tells me that it is precipitating some water out of emulsion, but I haven't gotten any free water yet.
Nah just start a nice fire under the storage tank. That should cook the water out.Throw a couple(lit) road flares in there and see if it dries out!
Keep a garden hose handy?I would like to cook the water out but I need to find a way to do so safely. I don't need 1200 gallons of burning fuel 75' from my house.
Knipco et al. heaters burn a mist/vapor of kerosene. Seems like it could end badly.Yeah, but is that a real danger with kerosene? I mean obviously it would be with gasoline, but that isn't the case here. I don't know but I don't want to chance it unless I'm sure it is safe or somewhat safe to do.
