Reading this thread, I finally realize what motivated our Wisconsin DMV to want to outlaw ex-military vehicles. If they can manage to keep milvehs off Wisconsin roads, then the drunks won't have things to crash into. Drunk driving problem solved, and all thanks go to the WisDOT.
I also appreciate now why it was so important to our DOT to make it a legal requirement to keep any privately-owned milvehs in their original military paint scheme. Highway safety!! Stupid me, I always imagined that the reason milvehs were painted camo was to make them more difficult to see, thus the name "camouflage". But again, I bow to the superior intellect of those geniuses at WisDOT.
