Stock filter received today from Memphis Equipment, no o-ring to seal for external filter housing. Can I proceed or do i need to obtain a new o-ring? 1986 vintage M925A2

Id call them like engineer said. You could keep the old O ring on but you risk it leaking after the new install . It might be ok or it might start leaking. Also id say your trucks a base M925 , not an A2 with the newer engine. If it was an A2 id buy your filters at a local auto parts store. And welcome to SS!

Guys how much engine oil do you need when you do an oil change on the 250 cummins with a new filter? I've read 26 quarts. Is this a correct number?

The oil drain plug is pretty large in diameter any clever tricks for catching the flow of oil without a oil slick?
.
Saw a 48 quart plastic tote under a truck recently.
Seems to work well and can be had "on the cheap" too.

Another choice would be to cut off a 55 gallon drum at the first "ring" and it will be deep enough. Requires a lot more effort, but the drum will last longer than you. A plastic tote could end up cracked if you buy too cheaply.

Use a funnel and hose to direct it to your 5 gal bucket or container & consider buying a fumoto drain plug to replace OE

Ditto on converting to a spin on and you can get much better media for filtering as the spin on come in extended drain interval and HD.

The large round tubs from Walmart work best they hold all the oil and on 6x6 blocks it's high enough to not spill any.

Do you know which fumoto drain plug fits the 250 cummins?

I used a Baldwin base for the spin on conversion but do not have the number handy. It was easy and worked fine. Getting the oil out of your tote and into a container to get rid of it is hard to do without spilling it everywhere.
