Flu Farm, I know you have been seriously considering painting your SEE once you have the snowblower attachment installed. Something like this might work for what we might call, the Actual Midwest Tradition. You would have the only snow camo SEE in town [thumbzup]

My mistake, PS529 Dec 1996 referred to to the backhoe arm pivot zerk. I will have to double check my SEE and make sure not to miss that fitting. Thanks for posting. Mark1954
Good find, Mark! I always look for some way to lubricate anything that moves (grease is cheap, and so am I) and when working on the SEE I use Lubrication Order LO 5-2420-224-12 to help me remember some of the more obscure ones.
Without it, there are Zerks I most likely wouldn't have found, like on the clutch pivot arm, but it also seems like I have come across ones that aren't listed.

A product called "Fresh Cab" that is also at Tractor Supply.

Works wonders in my RVs and MVs. Smells great too.

No issues with mice at all since I started using it.
I would like to keep it out of moving parts and excessive heat while in use,
I wonder where the best place might be to put/hang the packets to deter vermin.
In buildings, I put them near the doorways, autos on the floor near the dash and in the trunk,
FLU419 SEE's - no idea yet. Probably 1-2 under hood and 1-2 in cab. Smells better than mothballs.

Hmm, that looks like an over application of wax, which has dried. Didn't know that you also had a Hummer, General.
Either way, I have the only SEE in town regardless of color.
But I did recently find out that there are now three HMMHs in this state. Not bad, considering that it's just over one percent of the total production.

Funny you should mention that, Mark. Last night I was wondering how many SEEs are equipped with a fire extinguisher.
I keep Halon (or replacements) in my vehicles, but for whatever reason never did install any in the FLUs. And considering the cramped areas, complex wiring aided in its demise by rodent intrusion, plus all the normal reasons a vehicle can catch on fire, it should probably be on the list. High on the list.

And speaking of proper, who in their right mind would replace the tie rod, and reuse the old tie rod ends with shot seals?!?

My tie rod looks new complete with a part number still on it and the boots are shot. I think its factory defect, There is English firm, Westfield that has Unimog store on Ebay and they list boots with dimensions. I need to measure mine and see if they have some that will fit. Mercedes no longer stocks the boots (per Scott at EI)

The sum of all fears report. I mistakenly determined the SEE here at the house had lost it's prime and a new primer and filters would get her running again. I removed the primer off the pump and pump looked full of sludge. WTH! Then removed the small fuel filter housing and........ no filter. The contents of the housing says it all. Entire fuel supply from tank to motor most likely needs removed and cleaned or replaced. Ugh

Keeps product nice and neat.

Has anyone else experienced an issue where your backhoe boom would not retract far enough to re-engage the boom lock? The hydraulics appear to all function fine with the exception of that last 3 inches of travel to retract the boom. Got it back on with a helpful push from another tractor but hardly convenient.
Look over on this thread on BW, about page 4 of the "demystifying the SEE and HMMH". I believe this is what you are referring to.

Please let me know if you find suitable booties. It seems that installing new tie rods is standard procedure, but not replacing the ends and boots.
Since the stock tie rod ends can't be lubed, those boots are fairly important.

Very unhappy times indeed. I've never seen anything that bad before.
I hope somebody has an easier solution, but I suspect your diagnosis is correct.
Even if someone planned to part out this unit, why not keep parts in good shape???

Would it be possible to backflush it all instead of removing and cleansing the parts and pieces separately?
Obviously not all the way back into the tank.
By the way, when cleaning out the tank on the (formerly) parts SEE, I wondered how so much crap could come out of what looked like a perfectly clean tank's bottom. Well, it appears to have a horizontal "baffle" in there, which is what I was looking at. Who knows how much crud can hide underneath that "baffle".

If I did that, I would add another BIG A** Fuel filter in line before the pump or anything else that mattered, because Murphy's Law is really in play here.
Good news is you will have plenty of 'stuff' to apply onto any noxious plants that need addressing. (oops, did I say that out loud?)

It may not happen for awhile, there is snow in the ground today and my SEE is going to be going into its winter "nap" pretty quick. Ideally if someone could get the boot dimensions of the tie rod it would go quick. I would need to pop mine off and expect that will not happen until spring.

There is product called BIOBOR, that can be added to diesel to kill the nasties (its very toxic stuff but you can buy it by the bottle at marine stores).

In aviation we use a product called PRIST.
You can buy it over the counter and it works wonders.
Jet fuel is just diesel very refined.

Try Energy Suspension
They have the polyurethane boots and tons of other products.
I use their stuff on my CUCVs
