How can one tell the difference between m1028 and m1008 BESIDES the vin number?
yup, M1028 will have the same overloads GM otherwise only put on dual wheel trucks.Should have the rear spring overload pack and corresponding frame perches
Majority of the m1028's are still single rear wheel.yup, M1028 will have the same overloads GM otherwise only put on dual wheel trucks.
That is why I said that it is the pack that GM otherwise only put on dual wheel trucks.Majority of the m1028's are still single rear wheel.
Doors are easily changed, look for the over loads or data tag on cab.I guess the easiest way is to look at the data plate on the driver's door?

I agree. Half the doors on M1008's and M1028's around here are from M1009s because DRMO almost always smashed the doors moving them with forklifts. The big dealers here were getting prime $$$ for the trucks in the late 80's-mid 90's and were buying M1009's for doors and other parts to build complete trucks.Doors are easily changed, look for the over loads or data tag on cab.
IF those are stock it's an m1008.View attachment 663877There are no data plates in this truck but here is a pic of the rear leaves.
No problem.10-4 thank you
Not a 1028View attachment 663877There are no data plates in this truck but here is a pic of the rear leaves.
Sorry Sharecropper but your avatar looks betterWheels. It's the wheels. Only M1028's have the 20's.
This was my first thought. NP205 plus corporate 14 rear....Probably a 1028A1.If it has a NP205 Transfer Case then It's NOT A 1008. But then only 1028A1's have the 205.
