IP problem with my new Deuce...need advice

Lol...That is the story of my life...(Something we have never seen before). It is never simple for me.
I have alot of thinking to do about what to do. It is a nice clean truck. I may try and sell it for what I am into it for or I may fix it. And then if I decide to fix it, what route...

As valuable as deuces are becoming (relative to a few years ago) I'd say it's worth fixing. Especially if your not afraid to do a repower.

Don't part it for scrap. That truck is in very nice shape and as others have said you could put a new motor in or sell it as is. Especially up here in the northeast where clean trucks are in demand.

I found one in a junkyard about 3 hrs away for 700$. I have to talk to the guy about a warranty. My biggest fear is buying a used motor I can't hear, then finding out it's junk and losing more money. I have no issue with a re power but I can't afford a new crate motor so used is the only way I can afford to go. I am toying with a 5.9 cummins/nv4500. I gotta search out some threads here on it. I am sure it's been done.
Of cuorse on the other hand...The multifuel makes it a better option for a SHTF vehicle...

Does anyone know where you can get rebuilt kits/parts ? I could not find anything last night online. I would not be opposed to an inframe if the block and heads look good. Atleast I know what I got.

Jatonka has lds pistons and liners on his website. The bearings can be found on ebay I think. I bet tnj murray, kublos, or eastern would have something too.

Ok, Update...Being me I can't just crucify it without an autopsy...
What I have found so far.
Assuming the cylinder for from front to back 1,2,3,4,5,6 ....#4 the back head front most cyl has no fuel coming out of the inj line when I loosen it. All the rest do. Cyl# is approx where I hear all the racket but it does not sound like a rod knock...more like a very loud something flying around loose. Like if you threw a bunch of metal parts in a metal can and shook them around. Atleast one coolant leak appears to be the coolant manifold to head gasket. The other one could be the same and dribbling down to appear as a head gasket. Oil pressure is good and no antifeeze in oil. Minimal blowby and no smoke from exhaust ??
Ideas ?
I put the stethescope all around and the pan did not sound as loud. I heard the racket loudest about where the freeze plug near the number 5 cyl is on pass side...???
The truck started right up too this a.m. with no effort....:(

I would imagine that it wouldn't hurt to just open it up. Pull oil pan, pull the head and have a good look. Then all those gaskets can be replaced at the very least.

I wonder if I should disconnect the inj line completly from the # 4 cyl and see if any fuel is coming out ?? I might have a blown inj tip. I think a compression test is in order for #4 and #5 as well. If the inj blew apart I may not see fuel spurting out as it's running as there would be no pop pressure...Hmmmmmm
Please god, save my Deuce....:)

I'm gonna try a compresion test. Has not been a good day.
Wife says she's leaving and the Deuce is not running. My poor Deuce...:)

In your video I see the exhaust is still unhooked from the turbo. That flex pipe flopping around could be causing some of that rattle. Or maybe I'm just being overly optimistic.

Yeah I tried holding it. I put a steth right on the block I can hear the noise loudest around #5

It's obviously hard to tell without opening the engine up but I'm almost thinking it's a wrist pin. I'd drop the oil pan. Then you will be able to inspect the crank and rods. With that kind of noise I wouldn't think I'd be hard to tell if a bearing or wrist pin is bad.

Yeah, that might be next. The compression tester adaptor I borrowed is frozen so I can't adjust to to fit the motor. If it's just a wristpin I could theoritically drop a slug in it but all I have found is LDS liner kits not LDT.

The plot thickens. Compression test on cyl#4 400psig. Cyl #5...Zip, nada, nothing. I think I found my problem but what ???
I'm gonna do #6 anyway. I wonder if it dropped a valve ?? As long as the crank and block are good I can drop a slug in it.
BTW Snap makes a compression tester adapter for Macks that worked perfect. I will post Snap ON Tool number later.
