Hand pump is not working
I don't believe the hand pump or air/hydraulic pump are working now,

Meanwhile, the immediate problem is solved. The problem was not the hydraulics at all, but rather a mechanical interference. The cab was landing on and stuck on the arch that holds the cab lock. Judicious application of a crow bar solved the problem

Thanks guys for putting up with me, I appreciate it.

I've ordered the hand pump setup that Ronmar is using and when it arrives, I'll install it. Meanwhile, I won't be raising the cab until the new hand pump is installed and the cab lock re-built.

If you're going to delete everything but the cab cylinder I would highly recommend getting the updated stronger cab cylinder for the add-on armor trucks since they are larger and you need the cab floor reinforcement kit that it comes with anyway since the cab floor is about as strong as wet tissue paper where the ram connects.
I just ordered one of the stronger cab cylinder and reinforcement kits on ebay. I may not get it installed right away, but getting it while I can find one seems sensible.

I've been cutting off Huck Bolts this morning. 18 bolts in 90 minutes
Plasma is not the right answer for the huck bolts. Angle grinder and eye-pro. Go about halfway through them or a little more - right above the hex part and smack em sideways with a hammer. They are under tension so watch yourself and stay out of the line of fire. They tend to go flying and the LAST thing you want is red hot flaming projectiles so put the torch or plasma wand down.
I've been cutting off Huck Bolts this morning with the angle grinder and cutoff wheel. 18 bolts in 90 minutes. I just stopped for a cup of coffee . . . now back to the grindstone . . .

The huck bolts were the easy part, getting grade 8 bolts locally was difficult. I went to Lows and two different Home Depots and I got a few to put the rear shock upper mounts back on. I still have a center support in the frame, where the rear air lift points (crane lift?) were, to bolt on.

I ordered more bolts from McMaster, which might be here tomorrow.

I'll get back on removing the spare tire structure in the morning.

I'm making progress

I'd recommend using fine pitch thread, with distorted thread locknuts. Fine pitch is better under vibration than coarse. Yellow chromate coating is the best easily available coating for the bolts.

I've tried taking he cap off of the diagnostic port and I can't figure it out. What's the secret to getting that cap off. And what does the switch under the red "don't touch this" cover do?
The diagnostics cover should just push in and unscrew. The red switch is a battery disconnect that kills power to the truck.

I've tried pushing in . . . so far no luck

While I was in the area, I just spent a fascinating half hour scraping mud out from under the dash. Where was the private with a toothbrush on a punishment detail? Apparently not on my truck

Should be a twisting lock, I have one in my basement. less than a 1/4 turn counter clockwise to unlock, then pull straight off…

As mentioned the red sw is a remote battery disconnect, same as the one under the cab on the pax side with the remote ign and start switches…

I couldn't move that cover with two hands. I put a pair of channel locks on it , rocked it a bit and it came loose. Now I can move it with one hand.

I managed to get one more bolt off the tire rack today. The remaining 3 bolts are very difficult to reach. I'll try again tomorrow

My valve stems arrived today. The tire o-rings and distorted nuts for the tires should arrive Saturday. So hopefully I can get the two new tires on the steer axle Saturday. 4 more tires ordered, they should arrive next week.

Once I get the tires on, I'll be able to drive to the metal recycling and get them to lift the 5th wheel plate off.

I am making progress, a few bolts at a time.

Ha! The trucks in service are typically NASTY after their first trip to the field and they will mostly stay that way for the duration of their play date with Uncle Sugar. The most that might happen is a shop vac gets run through it when the chunks of mud get too deep. It will take many trips across the wash rack in it's career and on rare occasion may get walked by and glanced over by someone with rank - who is looking at the exterior with a mind toward maintenance and uniformity. The interior...... almost like looking in someone's foot locker. Not quite but close - especially in the active duty units where the trucks are assigned and soldiers are encouraged to have some pride in "their" truck but most don't take that suggestion very much farther than a phone charger and their name stencil. Toss the garbage, rinse it out with a pressure washer and let it air dry in the sun. That is the absolute most you will encounter and that's RARE. Usually a blow gun on an air hose is the best you'll get.

Get the nasty seats out of there - they shed yellow foam dust like crazy all over the interior.

Or if you pick up a mouse along the way they may take the seat cover material for their nest... I found most of my drivers seat cover in the dash under the instrument panel when i got it home from the auction yard.

My truck came with a pair of channel lock branded pliers (definitely from an older GMTK so someone's field loss) and BAE left me a pneumatic riveter sealed up inside the cab wall...... Still looking for that field lost M134 or CROWS system..... The struggle is real. 😑

To find any BII left over from it's former life is a treat. That is a $300 bottle jack from US Jack. Service the seals and fluid and paint it. That, or another just like it, came with the truck when it was new along with some adjustable wrenches and lug wrench, tire inflator whip and glad hand air hose, etc, etc.

I also got the glad hand air hose, I haven't tried it yet.

Thinking about safety, I bought an automatic inflater with a 6 foot hose. I won't walk away from the inflater, but I will be 6 feet from the sidewall.

I did a bit more cleanup today, installed some bolts to replace huck bolts and removed passenger and center seat. One of the drivers seat rear bolts is blocked by a rusty chain and attachment bracket. There's a padlock on the end of the chain. I wonder what they were locking up with the rusty chain. The bolts on the bracket go down to nuts in the wheel well and are locked solid with rust. When I get the tire off to change it I may cut them off.

Tire O-Rings arrived today, waiting now for the distorted nuts for the wheels, hopefully I can mount my two new 2023 tires tomorrow, Monday latest

This is the currently fielded inflation kit. *Parts* of this kit are included in the BII of the new trucks. This is the full shop kit but contains the quick-connect remote inflation system to get the soldiers away from the danger zone.

Ya gotta ask for our recommendations on this stuff before you buy. We can probably direct you to a better or cheaper option. Not that this one is particularly cheap - I got one for $140 free shipping a few months ago (brand new - never opened). But it is something to be keeping an eye out for. These were CRAZY TOWN expensive (basically $1k) to the taxpayers:

Milton is a mixed bag. A lot of their cheaper stuff is basically slightly better rebranded Chinese crap. The military side of the equation is..... different. Totally different department with different mandates. I've sworn off buying their consumer/commercial stuff after some really pathetic aluminum quick connects and some inline desiccant filters that almost immediately cracked and failed.... I get it they have to compete but I wish this wasn't the world I lived in.

You might also find you want to go a more conventional air quick disconnect route. Such as a male disconnect on a ball valve off of the wet tank.

This will allow you to use conventional airlines and fitting to run air tools if needed and to pressurize the system from an external source which is a good way to be able to chase leaks..

the truck itself makes a pretty good dry air source for a plasma cutter:)
