The twin caddys at 280 hp have a hard time moving the Stuart around, especially in pivot turns. What are you hoping for with 170 hp? If I were forced to do a repower it would be twin 396's with Allisons from a school bus.

OOps I meant 366's. Thanks 11 Echo.

Look something like this, maybe. It had an Allison behind it.

Ron, I think 2 BB chevy's wouldn't fit. We have an M5 at the Museum with 2 SB chevy's and a pair of TH350's and that is WAY tight. I agree the 6.2, even turboed, will lack the power needed to turn it.

It is cool to see old iron come back to life though :jumpin:

If you put an under drive behind you might be able to pull the tank a bit better.

A 6.2 and Th400 in an M5? You guys rock.

I put a 6.2 with a 700r4 in my M211.

Please keep us updated on this, I would love to see some video or more pictures of your guy's project. Just too cool. :)

I am curious to see how fast that tank will move. The Db2 injection pump on these engines are only good up to 200hp, after that they cannot move enough fuel to the cylinders to make anymore. I say set the engine up with main studs, a main girdle, head studs, crank the injection pump up and run the biggest darn transmission coolers you find (2 inline). Should move just fine, albeit a bit slow.

Getting near to start engine

Being working on it for a few months {sundays about 6 hours} got the cooling system done, the furl system including fuel tank and transmission cooling most of the exhaust need a few things and should be running next few weeks
