In my other thread I mentioned a high idle issue that started on my trip.

It was mentioned that it was my throttle return spring that was bad.

I went to look at the spring to get it's measurement, and compare it to what the tm calls for and what is on the truck is longer.

The tm calls for a spring that is 3.9 inches closed, the one on the truck is 9 inches closed.

Should I get one that is the same spec as what the tm calls for or replace it with one around 8 inches so it will provide adequate tension?

Here is what is on it now.

Now, before someone barks out I should search, I did. Throttle return spring results in deuce, and cucv.

Going to go to napa tomorrow morning and want to make sure I get the right thing.

i bought some way longer ones.. the spring part is around 6 inches and the ends are around 5 inches on each side.. that way its easy to adjust what you need and then later after your sure.. cut off the ends that might get in the way

I remembered when looking through the searches and was reading about the deuce I came across people using a bungie cord as a quick fix.

Well two bungie cords later, I can say it was defiantly the spring. One small one in place of where the spring normally goes, and another on the pedal holing it up.

I will get a new spring, and probably an extra just in case.

Now, anybody in the area have a headlight they would be willing to sell or donate? I am going to make a trip to Monroe, LA with the Patriot Guard and I figured why not take the big green machine.

You are a life saver. I can come by tomorrow if you don't mind. I'll bring cash, just let me know how much to bring.

I told Doug Nobles I will do any support missions in my area, but I will also travel for special events. I'm not sure what I will do for the 4th, last year I did the parade on my bike, but this year I will do it in the green machine. I'm hoping to get a low boy to pull with it, contacted a place in CO that has acres of stuff.

Picked up a spring from napa. Guy wasn't to sure it would work but I told him i would try it.

Worked like a charm. Back to normal. Also put in a 12v with USB plug under the bench seat wired to the battery.
