Hey Gunny,Its overheating and blowing water out of the cap. Original had the radiator repaired when I bought it a few months ago,the guys put it in the acid tank overnight and fixed a couple leaks and tested it out as ok. since then new belts, new cap, new sender, new gauges, new thermostat, new heater core. The system has been flushed back flushed and new coolant 50/50 put in the truck Yes the cooling system was a wreck. Well driving it 20 miles the other night the gauge went to just below 240 and when we got to where we were going water was coming out of the cap. With a thermal gun checked the temps and the top of the radiator was hot the bottom was cold. Both sides of the thermostat read the same so I assume its opening. U would think flow problem right. But the petcock drains the radiator with out a problem.
Ok all you SME out there what do you think, A new radiator is $1200 bucks
Sounds good, might be of help. Im changing the waterpump on SatHey Gunny,
Welcome to the insanity. We are down in Va Beach visiting, but will be back in Manassas this weekend. I have a FLIR camera we can use to see if the radiator is blocked or not and check to see where the hot spots are to aide in T/S, if you're interested? Mama and I did a water pump swap on our 998 this summer and the FLIR was a great help in proving the radiator wasn't cooked.
Let me know

I helped TheCaptain replace a water pump a few summers ago. Lesson learned: tedious or not, drain and remove the radiator stack. If you don’t you’re working with your fingertips next to sharp radiator fins and can barely reach the pump and fan bolts.Sounds good, might be of help. Im changing the waterpump on Sat
Glad to hear no leaks. PM sent.Thanks. I removed the radiator flushed it good. Pump was pretty easy access. Took little over a hour to do. Runs with no leaks. Mine has no fan clutch it’s direct drive
Yup...He is moving out my way where the sane peeps are! Ahab, your next.Hey, Bulldogger, what's Woodbridge got that Alexandria "ain't" got? You KNOW you'll miss all the traffic!
Hey, Bulldogger!Greetings All!
I'm looking for a reputable shop in Northern VA or DC Metro to handle a re-power of my HMMWV.

I called the guy accress the street from my store but he was gone at 3 today. Will try next week.Greetings All!
I'm looking for a reputable shop in Northern VA or DC Metro to handle a re-power of my HMMWV. I'm planning to purchase a 6.5NA or Turbo and 4 speed drivetrain (trans and transfer) soon. I'm prepared financially, and now that I have $$ to invest in it, I'm ready to speak with mechanics.
Can anyone recommend a shop nearby that can handle and preferably has experience with a drivetrain swap? I'm looking at online available drivetrains, and welcome something local if anyone knows of it. I'm open to a Duramax or Cummins, but only if it's a pretty good deal. I can't throw money at it, though I finally have a reasonable amount earmarked for this.
Time to retire the VERY tired 6.2/3L80!

Thanks friend! Hope to hear good news today.I called the guy accress the street from my store but he was gone at 3 today. Will try next week.
Another callout for a recommended garage skilled enough to swap a HMMWV powertrain; 6.2L 3L80 to 6.5Turbo 4L80E. I've what looks like a good source for a frame cut complete Turbo powertrain and no-one to install it.So my guy said he is not interested. Just the potential to be a PITA. He did recommend these guys...http://www.raysauto-performance.com/
He also said you should just to a duramax swap.
Yes, I'm around, just haven't been here much though I've been doing more truck stuff lately.I’ve not seen tactical truck post on here in a long time. I have been to his shop. He is capable. You may ask him? But if he is now in this thread I assume he has seen tour request. There has to be someone out by me. With all the dump, landscape and contract trucks rolling my way.
