RWH just serviced it and fixed what needed to be fixed (and replaced what was missing), with the main thing being installing a new 6.5 TD (the old one developed a bad knock on the first test drive). I also had him install the new wheels and 40" tires that are shown in the picture above. Surprisingly, no lift necessary, although the REV trucks came from the factory with a couple inches of body lift, and apparently the truck rises up a good bit when the armor is removed.

My first project will be the interior (sound deadening, carpet, console, etc.).

Welcome to the community! That is a great HMMWV. Hope to see you on some of the Nothern VA trail rides.

The rides have been done informally in the past by several mil vehicle owners in the area. The rides have been done on dirt/gravel routes (30-40 miles) generally North of Rt 50 to the Potomac and bounded by Rt 15 in East and and the Shenendoah in the West. As interest is growing in the now twice a year rides (late spring and early fall) I'll post info here on SS as the plans take shape and coordinate details with interested members. Always good to have new drivers and vehicles. Most are WW2 and KW era jeeps, but we've had 3/4 tons and a deuce and half as well. I may bring a HMMWV on one of them.
The group also supports ceremonies in the area, such as the Memorial Day and Veteran's Day events in Loudoun County and 4th of July Parades in Leesburg, Purceville, etc.
Some members of the group are looking to participate in the Sharpsburg, MD Memorial Day parade on 29 May (and then probably do a vehicle tour of the Antietem Battlefield).
I can put you on the group's email list.

I'm not sure we got any car shows in the area, now that you mention it.

I don't track it at all, but I can say that I have never run across any (which in itself doesn't really mean anything).

I think there are some Coffee & Cars events around here (e.g., McLean), but I have never been to one.

Relatedly, my truck was finally delivered a few weeks ago. Should have the tag and registration in a couple weeks.
