Can anyone tell me if there is trouble titling a deuce if “Data Plate Has Been Removed”? There are a bunch like that on GL right now.

Look on the frame for the serial # and get a new data plate and stamp the # on it.
It lists serial numbers with the description, but what about year of mfg? That will be important since I probably want to license it as a collector’s vehicle. Also, I DON’T want to have to get a salvage title on it.

NO issue whatsoever. We can figure the year by the VIN stamped in the frame.

Get your bid on.

You forget one thing..........after you win the truck from GL you have to apply for a sf97 with that you give them the lot # and they give you the paperwork to take to the bmv (with all the info:vin number, year, ect..) for them to give you a title................DATA PLATE has NO bearing on it!!

Remember YOU provide the SF97 info to GL. DMV goes off that.
But ... There has to be an inspection. On my M109 a state trooper examined the data plate. It's been 4 yr. since I've seen an SF97 and I don't remember exactly how all that goes.

I have my bid in, the question is will I follow it through if someone else gets interested.

I'm only willing to pay so much for parts.

BTW MY M109 RUNS!!!

Inspection? In CO you have to have an inspection to title something? Most states you walk into the DMV with your SF97 and walk out with a title and plates. When you pick up your truck from GL, you are then able to apply online for the SF97. It is a blank form (HINT).

In NH you need an inspection with certain triggers - weight and number of axles being the triggers on a deuce. I suspect some other states have something like this, too.

Edit: I should add that the inspection is required because the vehicle needs to be titled because of the triggers - and the title requirement forces the inspection. Without the data plate, I suspect you'd have a real issue in NH with the inspection. YMMV in CO, but I can't imagine it being any easier in any state if some form of validation is required to title or register.
