I'm guessing that's a self-propelled anti-tank weapon, and a sanctioned item of the official Russian Military arsenal.

But it's kind of hard to tell from the surroundings in this vid:

- It almost looks like it's the garage project of a neighbor or something, but that can't be right.

125-mm smooth-bore anti-tank gun 2A45M "Sprut-B" is designed to combat armored vehicles of the enemy. The gun can be towed by a Ural-4320 or a crawler tractor. For self-movement on the battlefield there is a power unit, made on the basis of the engine MeMZ-967A with a hydraulic drive. There is a driver's seat on the left side of the frame.

That's an interesting artillery piece there, USSR. The low profile is a nice feature.

Just curious, do you know if the tires are what we call over here "run-flats", in other words are they solid tires (and not pneumatic)?

I know, but for our roads better pneumatic. So as not to get bogged down in mud or snow.A low profile of the cannon is an element of its passive defense (hide in a caponier for example). This gun - the most powerful anti-tank in the world now

Robot platform F.E.D.O.R. Showed the of shooting with two hands. There is work on fine motor and decision-making algorithms.

What's curious here, USSR, are the resources dedicated to robotics modeled here on the human form.

For a nation that might have pioneered weaponizing politics, that seems restrictive conventional ("inside-the-box") thinking.

It's like a silent black-and-white film in an age of digitized "sensurround" THX special-effect movies.

A robotic platform based on biological forms like spiders or crabs would seem more successful and cost-effective, based alone on issues of balance, center-of-gravity, and mobility. Is this robot-man the only robot form being researched?

I would doubt this is the "only one" being investigated......Insect and crustacean both use a hard exoskeleton which is a great platform for linear movement. Yet, the Japanese have created similar "man like" robots , doubt whether theirs had a targeting system with dual pistols! Lol

It's funny because in spite of what we think of ourselves, the human "platform" is hardly the best model out there.

Like the vision issue alone, you'd think something like dragonfly vision would be a better model than ours (ask any pilot; there's a whole lot you're missing when all you got is two eyes in the front of your head).

I could see a major benefit from the "Man" version. This robot appears to designed to directly replace a human in different situations. From welding a pipe, closing a valve, or driving a vehicle. If you go with the other designs, you have to design your other equipment around the robot. This design means you can send the robot in to do any job a man would be able to do. Think about fixing a pipe inside a nuclear reactor, driving a vehicle into a zone with fall out, or sending them into a sinking ship to close flooding doors. Just some things that come to mind for me. But the coolest was the dual wielding Glocks. LOL
