Outfitting M1031 SECM

Guess I will have to take pictures of my motley load out. The one thing I have organized is my POL cabinet, the right upper rear. It also stores spare parts like oil filters and the like.

The generator control panel cabinet is where I store my welder, a Miller Dynasty 200DX, a perfect compliment to the truck as it runs fine on 208 three phase. I need to find a plasma torch that will also run three phase but those are pricey.

The other cabinets are used for MVPA outing possibles. Tools go in the back.

Here is an update on mine. Since its the older M887 body, it was originally outfitted with the Hobart welder. Since I don't do any mobile welding and already have air onboard, I elected to get the body sans welder. This was my answer for good use of the space. Still a work in progress but you get the idea. It's a super workbench and makes a nice place to enjoy a meal.

I would have thought you'd put the vise closer to the corner so you'd have more access when slid in, but I guess its sturdier right over the leg. Yes/no?

I thought long and hard over that one. The vice is turned that way to close the door but operationally it faces the end of the table. Unlike many workbenches, I can work off the end of this one. It actually functions surprisingly well there. Instead of turning the vise to one corner or the other, I can move on 3 sides of the vise. Wish it were a Wilton but at least it's made in the USA. Thanks Yost.

Oh, the leg is a repurposed leg off the back of a 101. May double foot it later.

The nuts for the vise mount are welded on the bottom. Vise can come off in no time and I can bolt my transfer tank right to the table for long trips. The bench can be pinned in various locations and the leg is only needed at full extension. More pics later.

Still underway Roy. Fabbing linkages for the crane at the moment. Needed a vise so this was born.

What is the receptacle on the filler panel on your driver side fender? Mine doesn't have that. I also noticed you have a T-handle lock with a build in key tumbler for a lock. Mine has plates that a padlock goes through. Did you install them yourself?

I would like to go to a conventional handle latch with an integrated lock but I think there is no easy way to do that. The way the door is set up, I think it needs to have a rotary latch.

It's the older Dodge M887 body. The receptacle is where the factory fuel filler was on the Dodge. Mine is under the fender now but I plan to bend up some tube so that I can move the filler to that spot. While there I'll tee into the vent line so I can refuel on the fly from another tank in the bed. These door latches are the factory ones it came with. They work pretty well but not really that secure then again, with aluminum doors, locks only keep out honest folk.

Probably would be easiest to just pull over on the side of the road rather than attempting it mid-flight :)

That explains it, mine is an M1031 service box. Probably why you don't have the horizontal racks up high at the front either.

Yeah, there are a few big differences in the boxes. I have a small access door on the passenger side where the O2 bottle goes. It actually lays flat on the floor right behind where the welder used to be. There are 2 pieces of angle to strap it to. Since I only carry a 125CF bottle of O2, I plan on standing it up next to the LP bottle to regain the floor space.
