Going on with the Clamps on the Troopseats
First testing of the prototype

20221126_142254 (2).jpg

20221126_142213.jpg

it would be much easier if we had done that before we paint the truck, but at this time we hadnt the troop seats

20221126_141720.jpg

i choosed the metal what just laying around the shop to take the exact measurements, it is bigger than the original one.
For the production of that clamps will i buy next week new metal, i think we will take that bigger material, fits perfect

Electic is also going on
Engine shall be back until chrismas
We have still no transmission, it seems we will order in the USA as its cheaper as buying here in Germany or Europe a remanufactored Transmission.
As it is a complete renew project does we not looking for an used transmission.

20221126_130201.jpg

and our shop equipment increase again of things my employer want done to the scrap yard
An operating facility of our Company in Dessau Eastgermany is closed and all machines and parts transfered to the main operating facility in Westgermany.
So i could achive some shelves and roling tool tables - made in former GDR 😅
I must confess not that quality we known here, thats why they gone to scrap, but useful for our shop
Any shelve bottom shall bear 150 kg - i would not trust in that

space for disambling the Sierra (y) to projects in the same time is a challenge

a little bit small but usefull during work

It seems we looking for the wrong part on the mirror issue...

TM 9-2320-289-34P Rearview Mirrors.png

That happen if you mix your spareparts
The brackets seems not to be from the Pickup, nevertheless this was stored with the original mirrors. 🤔
Finally needed not to be repaired. 😂

Thanks Dive Dive could we rebuild the clamps

Maß11.jpg

He supported us with a lot of pictures
From this we were able to create the drawings for the replica
The position of the bolt we have determined for each clamp extra when fitting to get a firm and secure mount
The bolts are numbered for their mounting position
Note that we used different dimension in the material than original

Clamp Troopseats short.jpg

Clamp Troopseats long.jpg

V4A Bolts.jpg

the other mounting material (screws, bolts and nuts) are ordered by screws and fastener shop in V4A

Next parts arrived

Main Headlights, they are different to USA. So only available in Germany.
Right side ist the 20 years old and you can see how blind this one is. Roadapproval said still ok but for me its to less light

20221210_093639.jpg

the same for the High beams on the Lightbar - these are around 30 years old

20221210_101809.jpg

20221210_104316 (2).jpg
The wood is also arrived, started to prepare them for weather protection and mounting

20221210_163736.jpg
This is a used tension belt for load securing of the German Bundeswehr. I want to assemble from it the safety belt at the rear of the loading area which is also not present

20221210_092052.jpg

And now a thinking task for you all 🍻 :
This is also coming from the moving of Dessau.
We all stand around and thinking what this is for
You can pump it up with the cylinder by turning the lever
We checked by try ana error but couldnt find out an usage for it....
I guess it is for barrels to turn them around to make it empty
I take it home as the trolley have four moving wheels that make it very flexiabel in easy usage before it sended to scrap yard

Engine is in rebuild and should be finished this year
It is the old 6.2 drilled on 6.5 specs as N/A - so just for now without any tuning to not have road approval issues but with all recommondated Updates on a later possible Tuning if we are not satisfy with the result. Than of course with a new road approval on the tuning.

The 4L80e transmission will be remanufactored by Gearstar on our demands - also with reserve on tuning - and coming with the HGM Compushift TCM.
So that the drivetrain is complete remanufactored with Engine, Transmission and NP205 TC.

We decided without tuning to take the original exhaustsystem with stainless steel mufflers.

The driveshafts will also be new build in Germany by Elbe Gelenkwellen as we want store the original drivetrain with TH400/NP208 and the fitting driveshafts. This is necessary to hold this original parts in store of the history value.

Unfortunately Dacota Digital have backorder for our cluster
It will be here not before next spring
If you want something special than you must wait

We choose the RTX-79C-PU-X with an Diesel Tach adaption

prd_ssh_4365_8410.jpg

Dieseltachadaption and adjusting are extracosts

Dieseltachadaption.jpg

but you got exactly what you want. They ask two times if we want the RTX Style with Miles and not the metric ones
Well he is an american Truck not German - we go with the Miles and american measurements more than 25 Years
We will not change it

It is not a cheap way but save us of headaches of all the additional gauges
We dont want again this

Armaturenbrett131203-2.jpg
So now we are looking for a new place of the switches (Lightbar, Airhorns) and the CB Radio

We just order what we need and have all in the Cluster
It was a long talk with the engineer who do the history registration if he will accept that digital cluster.
At least we have the acceptance with an official statement, the same is for the 4L80e transmission
Both are not original on the Truck - so better ask if you want history registration before waste a lot of money

Any oldtimer purist will not be satisfy with that changes - thats why we store all the original parts and only looking on customizing what you can undo.
We want also Fun with the Truck not only a static one sitting in a showroom So we need some adaptions.
Oldtimerrestauration done as investment need to follow some rules or you lost value.
The same will be if we go on with a tuning of the engine.
If we change heads and IP to add a moderate charger will the original parts still in store

For now we are happy if he is finish and on the road again

Ironic, they had to use a picture of a truck with the infamous folded hood.

Ironic, they had to use a picture of a truck with the infamous folded hood.
Maybe as it shows metal just got scratches, dents and sometimes foldings but often easy to repair. Plastic in the same situation ????
Our Sierra had on the right front a crash by preowner. Repairs include new bumpers, inner and outer fender, a lot of brackets and plastic clamps...
The same on the chevy? Be sure it need more power to give such an expensive repair

Wasnt here not a post of a member who took his just purchased Truck home and was cut from another new Pickup. The Chevy was still to drive the other pickup not.
