meanwhile we are waiting for the spareparts had we a first inspection with the Roadapproval engineer on the trailer and the truck
I can do what i want in my destrict will it not be able to got the military hitch streetlegal
So i will use a Rockinger, i will not drive to south of germany just to got a minimal chance that they will today approve the military hitch.
In the past was it sometimes possible but in the present time is it not more longer allow. As we have everywhere in germany the same law is it dependent on the engineer...

the strange convert from a dutch preowner for streetlegal of the trailer in NL will be remove and exchange to the original drawbar
For this exists in germany someone who had done a streetlegal approval on that original drawbar. He sells now the report and a test-number for a fee of 830 Euro if i sent the drawbar to their shop. It will be checked and got his certification plate.
A lot of money... but if i would do such an approval for my own i had expected costs by 10000 Euro ++ and a risk that hey will destroy the drawbar in the test.
20230114_111050.jpg
This would never got a street legal in germany as our Tüv Engineer said it is to weak and it would not fit with the pintle hitch, it need a jaws coupling.
We ordered an original drawbar NOS
s-l16002.jpg
Now we are checking the best offer for the original wiring as this would be also change/customid by the NL Preowner for streetlegal
As we have the military trailer wiring on the truck should this fit with the original military trailer wiring
The taillights was also customize for street legal so we need to exchange them
To find an untouched M1102 is very rare here
i know 3 dealer in germany who sells this trailer with streetlegal in germany but always not in using the original equipment
So this trailer have usually also an destroyed wiring and often an exchange drawbar like this

Maybe we just don't quite understand over on this side of the pond.

I'm not sure how using the factory pintle is "less good" or safer.
Seems to me that lining the pockets of a bureaucrat is what is happening there.

The factory pintle have no certifation so it is not allow here. If it had a US Certification ... than i had a chance. But it come complete without. I can try to got one and let the test of safety and strength in laboraty tests but this is very expensive. Thats why i need also to buy the certification for drawbar otherwise i had to convert like i show above. All used parts have a german certification.
The roadapproval of vehicles is very strict in Germany like all others where be people in danger. This law is also for foreign vehicles on transit through Germany valid. Who not care can be stopped got a high fee and is not allow to move the vehicle on its own wheels through germany which mean you need a towing company also if you have in your country a streetlegal on your vehicle.

Rear Troops seats are now complete installed - the front seats are complete rebuild and in storage can be installed if rollbar disambled
Did not expect to sit comfortably on it, but I was wrong at least as long as the truck does not drive. As its not allow to have passenger on the cargobox does this not matter. Its a nice camping breakfast/dinner zone. Table will be an ammo-box 😅

After a lot of trouble with Fedex deliver they yesterday our last order
Finally we have also the original Jack

20230224_074121 (2).jpg

20230224_080353.jpg
As old as our Truck and without any usage traces, just a bit dust ... so that mean Chevys have no need for such 😅 🥳

I got also the Brake Actuator for the Trailer
50lbs and they think it is to weak for streetlegal without a test on strength and firmness

20230224_074848.jpg

I will smoothly lay it on their clean desk to not damage their desk and ask again if a simple test will be enough
It is difficult without the original system to say anything about it.
The engineer had only see the destroyed original Unit

20230225_085857 (2).jpg

Front and Rearwindow again in

20230225_132216 (2).jpg

the old seals was also precision and still in a useful condition, but i dont wanted use again 20y old sealings.
Door startet to rebuild - the vent-windows are really challenging.
We remember 20 years ago we had also a lot of curse during assembling

20230225_142605 (2).jpg

The NOS Drawbar is also installed - no more eyecancer to view the trailer

Going on with the next challenge
The Truck got new aftermarket doors in 1999 and as we all know aftermarket is never like original.
After the weatherstrips is also the door alignment a challenge.
Hours later wie have the ground alignment - with fenders will be the final aligment necessary

Also obviously the old sins of the past...
The windows have a lot of traces from icescrapping in the winter
I thought about new glasses but i fear the replacement.
I prevent to remove the windows from their rails

Maybe later i am thinking again on that and will replace them. For now i am glad to have all in again.

The Mirrors are the old blackstealed and painted ones
I have still brandnew stainless steel in the shop. It would be look ugly if i use them, the stainless steel need to prepare for painting. I dont want do that. I just check how good this paint and rostprotection will work on the old black steel mirrors.

20230322_130242 (2).jpg

20230322_164448 (2).jpg

I am waiting now their response as i dont want US-Shift and they dont inform about the change in our order before shipment.
HGM is what we payed for and which i want have.

20230322_164631.jpg

Today we start finishing the mirrors and must notice that the new mirror seals are to small
Good that we store since 2000 the stainless-steel Mirrors as inside was seals in the right size

20230325_095934 (2).jpg

20230325_122219 (2).jpg

just need other screws on the mirrorhouse instead of rivots. I had not the srews in the right size. We will exchange this four srews
also waiting on mirrowsglasses which we let customize here in a shop

20230325_122229.jpg

also use new door lockpins

20230325_121849.jpg 20230325_121955 (2).jpg

the door close now like the cardoor of our Volvo - smooth and silent
You can see on the old bolt why you need much force to close with the original one. I does not fit nevertheless it was aligned

Thanks ssdvc and 1Love we will do our best to have finally a complete renew truck from 1985...
I had could buy a new truck which it costs to realize this project but a new truck is not the same like to have a new M1008 in original condition. As you know all our improvements are reversibel and we store the original parts. The value will rise up with oldtimer status and excellent condition as you find anymore not much in that condition. For more fun on speed and power does we have the Sierra LBZ Duramax as 2nd Project in work.

You need to be a bit crazy and having the family behind your project otherwise it would not be realizable.

using a second diagnostic port to customize it both will be painted Carc 383 and installed side by side under the dash

Just needed now only find a solution for the lightbar and horn switches which was former installed in the dashboard

IMG-20230321-WA0003 (2).jpg

And contrary to Gearstar's statement, HGM can't deliver Compushift. Our kit is already on the way - just plug and play and no wiring headache 🥳

NP205 rebuild is finished, the shelf is empty except of a box with scrap bearings and seals

20230408_132734.jpg

20230407_111531.jpg
we start with cleaning the threads

will be finished soon with tighten all srews, nuts, installing the reluctorring with the Speedsensor and the cableshifting unit

20230408_091938 (2).jpg

20230408_132719.jpg

To mount it on the existing crossmember i could use the original NP208 adapter with a bit customizing, but this destory the adapter for use on the TH400. As we store the complete original drivetrain was this not really an option for us.
We bought the Adapter by Rockauto and we will customize a spacer from an Alumium Block 200x100x50 mm EN AW 7075 milled

20230409_112601 (2).jpg

no need more for the metalbracket under the switches if we use the ammobox

20230409_112607 (2).jpg

possible location - decision is still not fixed

20230409_113251 (2).jpg
