Tom, the only bolts they had were too long, so that's why the ratchet straps are over the bed.

Fuzzy, I still haven't decided. I know its supposed to be green or camo, but almost every other truck is that color. I would like for mine to stand out a little more, but I have still not decided what color I want to paint it. I am open to all suggestions.

ARYankee, I agree. Sunday was kind of surreal. It was just weird having that bed on there. Now I'm afraid I won't even recognize my own truck.

It's probably going to be a while before I decide any thing on paint, but keep the ideas coming.

USAFSS-ColdWarrior, I only have two springs and no bolts. The bolts that he gave me were just some grade 3 or 5 that were 4" or 5" long just to keep the bed located on the truck, in addition to it being ratchet strapped down.

Well, after much ado and a great length of time, I have completed two more "upgrades" to my truck. I haven't driven my truck enough to get an idea of how well the seat is going to work yet, though. It kinda cut down on my leg room, but I don't think I'll take it back out.

I haven't put anything in the box yet, but I plan to store my air hose and a few hand tools in there. I would like to come up with a way to lock it up before I put too much stuff in there, though. Anybody put a lock on an ammo box before?

I recently found these ammo box locks but haven't tried any yet. I'm not sure if they would work on yours or not.

I have been thinking about bolting a couple of .50 cal ammo boxes under the passenger seat of the deuce and puting locks like these on them.

Well, I got started on a new battery box. As you can see from pics #1 and 2, my old one was not long for this world. So, since my work has their own sheet metal shop, I figured: Why not make one myself? This is what it looks like so far before paint and rubber coating. I still have to come up with some handles and bolts for the front of it.

Finally rubber coated and installed my battery box last night. First time I've cranked the truck in over a month. Checked everything out and washed the pollen off of it, for a little show on the square.

Rebel,

I admire your "stick - to - it - ness"!!!

Nearly two years later and you are still making progress... [thumbzup] My attention span sort of putters out about the end of year 1

As far as the paint scheme.... How about four color red camouflage? 8) I think it would keep the heritage of the truck, make it unique, and still be camo!

I am going to keep my eye on this thread, because that will be one heck of a truck when you finish it up!

Thanks for the motivation!
Dave

I appreciate the kind words, Dave, but I'm not as steady as you might think. I've owned that truck for 6 or 8 years now. The first few years I just drove it, then it sat for a couple of years, and now, finally, I'm starting to make it my own.

As for the paint job, I've almost talked myself into the 4 color camo. It's been growing on me:mrgreen:.

I saw your passenger seat there, Can I give you a hint, they work better right side up. lol
Just giving you a hard time. But I have ammo boxes like that on the side of one of my trucks in the upright and side by side. There is a locking lid that hides them from the general public too.
What color will it be when its finally done? Mines still a black Rhino truck bed liner color. Yup I painted the whole truck inside out with it.
