This thread is about the transmission issue I'm having with a winch deuce I recovered from Knox yesterday. The other thread is about the recovery but this one is strictly about the technical issue I'm having with the transmission.
What happened is, the truck will only drive backwards. The shift lever feels like it is in neutral, but if I let off the clutch the truck drives in reverse. I can't move the shift lever over to the left side where 1 and R are. I can put it into the slots that FEEL like 2-3-4-5 but in any of those positions the truck runs backwards. Well, I can't start out in 4 or 5 it stalls, but inching backwards.
I have removed the floor pan around the shift lever and I assume the next step is to take the top cover off the transmission, but it's raining today and the soft top leaks, so I thought I'd better wait and get a tarp.
Any input / similar experience appreciated. I searched the -20 TM thoroughly and saw nothing about what's inside that topcover.
Thanks,
Joe
oh PS the engine is NOT running backwards and it is not a sprag front axle.
