Water leak

I have cleaned up everything (cowl, screens, drains, etc) mentioned above on my 1009 and I still get water from those vents. That's why most of us have bare floors. It's a CUCV, so don't expect it to be water tight.

That said, you can replace the seals (LMC) around those fresh air vents and it should help a bit. It is on my list of things to do.

I agree. Vent seals. That cowl area is a real dirt trap. If you remove the 2-rear hood hinge bolts, you can tee pee the hood forward and remove the cowl screen and the plastic cowl screen. While you are in there, I would remove the wiper transmission linkage and clean lube and paint them parts as well. Flush that cowl screen area out really well and make sure you have good water flow out the bottom cab drains. They may be clogged shut. After you feel you have it clean remove the inner cowl vents and check them for cleaning and reseal them. Even make some seals if you need to. They are not head gaskets or anything special. Good Luck. Maybe even some caulking would work. But like mentioned and CUCV is not a watertight vehicle. It is bound to leak somewhere.
