Somebody posted that the prices are going up because more people are getting into the hobby. However how many can use a duece? How many can even have a duece due to zoning restrictions? How many can afford to drive a duece?
These trucks will be around for years to come. I'm sure overseas surplus dealers storage yards are bursting at the seams with them.
I posted that. Compared to the adverage collector vehicle market, MV are scarce. Many, many more muscle cars were made than deuces. Deuces are CHEAP compared to other motor vehicle hobbies. They have a toy appeal, a work appeal, etc. I can't really "USE" the one I bought, yet I bought it. I don't need a USE, I just have to WANT.
And it doesn't take that many NEW hobbyists on GL to make a price difference. Redstone had over 200 trucks. Seems like a lot, but if just 10-15 noobs are shopping, the prices are going to creep upwards. In a place like Iowa, when you are selling just 10-15 trucks, just having Rat enter the hobby that week probably drove prices up (on GenSets for sure) that week.
It might be a few bucks a week, but I think the prices will climb up. Never to the levels of my 67 Chevelle or Rat's old 66 El Camino, but they will go higher than some people can pay or that some old timers are used to. Still, this will be a very "cheap" hobby (as compared to some) for a long, long time. I'm not saying the end is near, but if you're saving for your 1st MV, you might want to have a couple extra bucks in your wallet.
