What did you do to your deuce this week?

New batteries alternator, brake lights, fuel, oil, diesel, and brake fluid.
Went and made advertisement for batteries.

Took one younger [new ace mechanic]
human for a ride around. First in a while that one asked what the heck
all the stuff I installed is for. He be observant, He will be OK.


Ran all over the city, visited the airplanes and the tank
and myriad other places.

Nope,
no video, and no pictures recorded.
This drive was for Me.
Yep I enjoyed the royal s##i$t out of it too.

G'day everyone,...


Went and worked on my Deuce today for a short while.

I removed the drivers seat back so I can take it to be recovered on my way into work Monday.

While I was there I took the opportunity to remove the passenger seat hinge that customs/AQIS bent so I can put it in my vice and straighten it.

Just one of those little nagging jobs that I want to get done.
I mean,... just how the heck do you bend this!??

I moved one of the power leads on the starter motor because it was touching the starter motor housing.
I wasn't sure if it may have been shorting out at that point.

So I put a spanner worth of space between the powerline and the housing.

That looks better.

Um,... while I was down there,... I think I may need some new boots,....

Dose this look like it melted to you?
The connection closest to the camera.

Looks like a copper cap on the end of the thread that's melted?

I forgot to take the dog-bone for the batterys with me so didn't get to try to see if the Deuce will start.
I'll get to try in 2 more weeks.

Nice truck. I like how your wheels are huge. They fill out the wheel wells nicely.
Just started looking at the these trucks as an M934A2 alternative. I want the manual and dislike the "don't go into reverse in low-range" problem. Can't afford that mistake out in the boonies several hundred miles from a main town.

thanks, just the standard 395 mrap wheel upgrade, only been further then around the block once and it was massively windy so i didn't really push it but did get it to 55 and it wasn't sounding angry being there like on the stock 40"s, 45 mph at 1600ish rpm is nice and its a nice cushy ride on the fat radials

That starter cable is your ground wire. So it would not hurt anything to let it touch any other metal, except a positive wire !

Well that's a load off my mind!

I only had about an hour with my Deuce and after I had remover the drivers seat back and done a few other small jobs I only had about ten minutes to play around the starter motor.
I didn't get to back-track that power line to find out if it was a ground or a positive.

I always seem to be short on time.

Anyway, the drivers seat back is at the upholsterer with the passenger seat base and back.
I should have them back in 5 weeks, the guy doing the job is going to the US at the end of this week for 3 weeks.

Can't wait till the seats are finished.

Apparently I am going to have my Deuce for
"long time GI". I heard that once.

Finally got the workbench done, all scrap that others people tossed...
Good enough for me to work there. Lots of stuff to fix and maintain.
Before I goober it all up thought I would picture it for me.





made sawhorses too, have to do cosmetics, troop seats and such.
Now I can clean and paint stuff over 18 feet, all dead level.

Mine has just two springer seats, bought new covers, 37 manhours and all stainless steel fasteners later I got them recovered as per specifications and reinstalled back in to the truck.
It is cool, I am the only one that will ever appreciate that job, but it made me good with the truck.

It's official guys, I've went mad and purchased a 1990 BMY Harsco M923a2 with a 8.3 Cummins, 5 speed Allison, and super singles. Truck had sat for almost 4 years, and was liquidated in 2014 from GL. I drove it 870 miles back from Waller Texas to Newnan Georgia with only 1 hiccup that took 4 hours involving the compressor unloader hanging up failing to build pressure

Ordered more parts for the deuce and set the valve lash, then cleaned out the back of the truck and looking through the boxes to see what I got with the truck when I purchased it. not bad with some of the items found!


Now I'm looking into finding replacement fuel lines, Birthday is coming up soon and my wife asked what I want and in the same breath then said she is NOT buying me a five tone, I said no that I just want to replace the secondary and final fuel filters with JATonka second series single fuel filter. and of course she said ok!

That is sweet, best of luck with your new truck Elijah did or do you need a CDL to drive that!

It was last week, maybe a couple whiles before that, I dunno anymore....
I need help, OK, I don't need help.
So Soldier "B" and "I" have to do it.............

Truck ate her batteries, put new ones with all perfect grounds and leads.

Did everything I could to adjust the alternator output, Simply could NOT get the plug out to get to the screw. Used all best practices, 40 years worth, Finally removed it and fixed all the fasteners.

Yah know 35 inch pounds is not 30 foot pounds!
I took it to three places to test it.
Finally found a test guy whom immediately let all the smoke out of my
800 dollar generator.
Fall back, regroup, reload brain thoughts, .....all.

No money no more, what to do?
One Steel Soldiers leads me to an answer. Put a civvy on it.
A bunch or red stuff coming our of my hands later, I got it done.
Works perfect, one wire civy stuff.

Truck has to go when I need it to go. OK .....................
I work, She is ready to go.
