What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I don’t care what it costs, I will walk on that big cam with my 8.3 when I’m done
“Luke, I am your father.”. Ha ha, that’s what I’m talking about. School bus motors for the win!

A set of 5.9 performance governor springs will get the trans to cooperate. The shift point and injection pump de-fueling governor limit are very close at wide open throttle, stock. A GSK (Governor Spring Kit) will insure full fieling at trans shift points.

I'll have to stop watch mine to compare time to 55 mph. I don't have a 1/4 mile track anywhere close, just 1/8 mile tracks. If you post your time slip, it should show your 60 foot, 330, 660 and 1320 times. I'll take mine to the local track and we can compare the first 3 marks. My mods are fuel turned up 1/4 turn, dual fuel lines, airbox cut to use almost entire filter and desplined front hub caps. I'd guess mine would have a better 60 foot time but I'm thinking the A2 will come around after that. Keeping apples to apples as close as we can, my truck is on 14's as well and I run a cargo cover like your truck. I suppose we'll see, I'm game! Since you're in Georgia as well, maybe we can contact Discovery and make a Big Truck Outlaws show. May even do a "test hit" on my dirt road to see how much power the road will take as I adjust my fuel screw!
Once you get to the end of the 1/8, just hang a U and run it back. :)

Once I get the 887 p7100, ht3b Turbo with the H1e pushing it, 350 Marine injectors, and water meth done I’ll be able to walk that Cat!

Still cranking the engine we have not seen run yet....

I discarded a single PM, so you have one chance to say everything you ever wanted to. Apology it is full, I’m popular. Don’t cry, the weak are killed and eaten.

So back to the real thread. Took the family out for ice cream in the beast. No good pics as it was dark and stormy. More rain again tonight. It’s hot, humid, and that truck is like riding in an oven. How do you get the heat to stop coming out of the vents? Have the fresh air damper open and the fender vents but holy crap. The heat just keeps coming in.

Pretty sure having the fresh air damper open allows the air to still pass over the heater core, thus warm air?

Eli likes to warm his truck up with a road trip. I'll see when the next "Test and Tune" night is at the local drag racing track and race him right off the trailer! First pass of the night!

How about we convoy together in the fall to Montgomery dragway again? We’d be an insane hit with both trucks roaring down the strip, and when we’re both done running there’s some good off-roading to be had there too

Looks like it's roughly 150 miles away from Leesburg, maybe my 250 will warm up by then and it's closer to Simp's neighborhood. Should make for a fun outing!

Well, now let's go down the LO maintenance list per LO-9-2320-272-12 (M929/A1).

- drain and refill the hydraulic reservoir.
- check drain and top off differential oil (all axles).
- grease all points GAA
- oil can all points and then some with OE/HDO.
- oil all axle & crank case breathers.
- oil throttle to pedal linkage. (What a difference that made!!!) No more sticky, slow response gas pedal. I feel like I gained 10 horses out of that. The truck is running good!

Complete front axle maintenance job is next. Reading the TM as I compose this.:|

custom & repair

- take bur and cut square inner edge off output yoke flange of the transmission-to-transfer cas to make room for grease gun tip. Very tight u-joint design. Mine have 90 degree zerk fittings. Could not get a good connection between zerk and tip. I'm not going to dissemble this propeller shaft every time I need to grease it.

- fix a few oil drip areas that just needed torquing down.
- PTO take-off valve housing
- fuel pump drip (top rear) two hex bolts

- scaled rust, primed & painted inside of tool box
- scaled excessive paint over-spray on transfer case limit switch. (the switch arm roller was frozen) Much improved actuation now.
- good degrease wash job as I do maintenance

Door adjustments and cab maintenance are next on the list.

Try putting the transfer case in neutral and turning the jack shaft to get to the grease fittings.

I did a test hit on my 5 ton in preparation for the upcoming race. It spun the rear tires slightly on dirt upon flooring it in first and broke the tires loose slightly going into second! My best bet is a strong hole shot against an A2, beat him before the turbo spools up!!!
