I attempted to replace my windshield washer motor because the housing was destroyed but hit a temporary snag. The take off is the wiper & washer in one. I went to Autozone and gave them the info on the 09 and the one they had was just the wiper motor minus the washer motor. I said that wouldn't work so I checked around and found the same thing. I thought something isn't right so I decided to go home and do some research. I finally found what I was looking for when I did a search on here and surfing through the threads I came across a picture of the one I had and someone posted a link to O'Reilly's. O'Reilly's has it as a year model 84 and mine is an 86 (well I thought it was an 86).

I just wanted to post this so that if anyone in the future runs across a similar issue, you may want to take the time to do a little research to get what you want. I am going to get the 84 wiper motor/washer motor in one because that is what was on there. I think I may also double check to make sure that I have the right year model for the 09 too. I figure some parts swapping occurred.


******* Disregard this post because I was having a moment. Right after I posted this I looked at my info from the GL auction and my SF97..... Turns out it is really a 1984. I some how got it mixed up with the year of my M923. I have way too many MVs and can't keep the years straight. I screwed up my SF97 and it has it as a 1986..... *********

All parts for cucv's are 1984. This cut down on the number of spares the gov had to stock!!!:deadhorse:

I checked my brake (sometimes spelled 'break') pads, checked all the fluids and traced down a short in the headlight wiring. Began work on fixing my fog lights but the it has to wait.

Replaced the Vaccum valve, fixed Horn, fixed broken front light, checked and I do have a bad blancer going to replace later

Installed new steering stabilizer and 4 new shocks.
Installed new kingpin bushings and springs.

Wow, with the new tires, new shocks and new kingpin bushings and springs, it drives like a new truck! I can hit a bump in the road and not fear for my life now! :-o

Still to do-

Change front diff oil
Transmission vacuum lines
Transmission fluid change
Transmission filter change
Dash lights work
Fuel filter change
Power steering filter?

got a couple extra alternators off a junk truck. But am debating now if I want to try the cucv electric rebuild kits or just buy new alts all together, anyone have any suggestions.

Electric 24v Fans

Got to retain sample valve, also will finish oil cooler, waiting on it to come from derale including oil bypass valve for winter temps.

Didn't want to loose old style tank cooler for oil but had to remove for electric 24v fans couldn't work it out with those crazy bump tube o-rings fittings and get back to AN fittings.

Fans went well but a lot of critical wiring to stay stock with the key on 12v feature and over-rides for ON and OFF just in case I'm idling and need to cool condenser more for AC.
All the reason for the electric fans, spend that kind of $$$$ and end up with a luke warm AC system when setting in traffic at 675 rpm's. Not me so I'm trying this, hope it works ok, ran fans but not engine yet, have that oil stuff to go (all apart still).

I replaced the sticking voltmeter in the 1031. The new one is a Faria model so there was a bit of modification required to the clamp bar, cut the ears with tin snips. While the dash panel was out, the top idiot light color plate fell off, reinstalled it and bent the clips more.

Also got the rest of the rusted #8 fasteners replaced on the SECM box. Just need to remove the silly yellow paint someone used to cover the rust streaks.

I'm installing the rear camera on the center top lights, converting those to brake lights as to not wash out the camera. Since the camera is IR, this should be cooler mounting.in the slipstream. Cooler IR cameras have greater S/N ratios.

The 28 volt DC powered air conditioning project is going well, compressor should be delivered this week and the direct drive coupling fabrication can proceed. It will be installed under the right side of the cab where it will have good airflow and very short refrigerant lines. Also, mounting the compressor at the lowest part means very little oil circulation.

Installed new drive shaft. Custom made from Gregory's Fleet Supply here in Va Beach. 160 bucks. Had to get replacement rear yoke straps and bolts from Denny's driveshaft....

Three years and 30,000 miles of driving to rebuild to almost new and in some cases better utility and function.

Very nice, Ramsey, very nice.

Is that a 105 trailer body? What's the clearance between the wheel wells? I have the 101 trailer, and it's less than 48", which is a pain if you want to haul sheet goods like drywall or plywood.

Can you lay a 4x8 sheet flat in your truck bed?

It is a bed from an M101A3. The 4 x 8 fits. The wheel wells line up perfectly as well. Took a few shims under the bed to make it all work.

Way cool mod, by far more functional than the stock pickup body. Would be a great conversion for M1031 owners that have no use for the maint box. I think you may have started something here. My five foot three girlfriend loves the swivel seat, hates climbing into my truck like a monkey.LOL. Nice work!
