Took my son out on some trails. Turned out that one of the trails were closed (ugh). Luckily forest service let me off with a warning after talking to me about the HMMWV for about 30 min. Anyway, a few pictures.

Funny thing was I had just made it through all the difficult stuff and back onto the main forest road when he stopped me and when he was done he said that even though I’m at the end of the trail, he didn’t think I’d fit due to my width so I needed to go back the way I just came. He wasn’t worried since he just watched me come up hill over obstacles without spinning at all.

I installed a backup camera. It works great and while it was advertised as wireless the camera and the monitor need to wired to either 12 or 24 volt power. The wireless is really not "wireless."

Fabricated and installed an intake snorkel. Made from a leftover piece of a Nissan truck driveshaft.

That looks really good. What did you use to plug up your old armor holes. I have a million of those holes that I would like to cover as well.

Hi. First time posting. So I have done a few things. I cut down crew seats to fit my gourmet. I mounted a high lift jack. I installed e track in the bed. I modified a two man carving divider to the four man version. I installed BMI molle strap cheat covers. And now I’m building a radio system with four place intercom. An a convoy rotating becon. Ammo can four drink holder

Cheeze and rice, I had to re-do my reverse lights.

I wanted small and discrete that didn't require cutting rectangles in the body for flush mounting. I found some small, 12-24v LEDs on Amazon. They crapped out within a half-dozen shifts into reverse. You could see the burnt up controller inside the lens next to the LED's. The light pattern was also a blinding, pinpoint spot. Not useful. I replaced them with a higher quality flood worklight mounted next to the bumperettes. These hang from the lip under the tailgate so I didn't have to drill any large holes in the body.

I ended up combining 2 tag light kits into a single functional bracket and light fixture. I finally bought Packard connectors so I can make my own harnesses and stop paying for pre-fabbed wiring kits.

Wife's and my night vision must be fading as we age. We both agreed that the gauges were just too dim. After new bulbs and new lenses, and cleaning the sides of the gauges we were still not satisfied. Replacing the bulbs with green BA9s from superbrightleds.com finally did the trick. Plenty bright and the LEDs won't melt the new lenses.

A CV boot just split on me so I'll be pulling the front, PS axle to re-grease and re-boot. I have those parts.

Once I replace the boot, I think I'll pass the state safety inspection but, the fear of God has been put into me about the spindle nuts so I will drain and inspect each spindle before driving down to the inspection shop. If I find any that are loose, I will end up buying the HPG spindle nut kit but I have to say, $100/hub does not make me happy.

Your rig looks great but I might find a better way to secure that spare tire. It's a heavy missile if it gets free.
Are you planning an expedition or extended camping trip with all those jugs?

As for the tire there is zero chance of it coming loose unless I rolled. I drive a tractor trailer and secure loads every day. I may look like it could move up and loosen the strap but I have so much pressure on the tire that it has ballooned under the strap. Also it is bound to e track secured with 50 1/4 rivets. So there is no flex. The Jerry cans I just strapped up to see what it looks like.

I wish one of the parts houses having plastic taillight bucket assemblies made in the Peoples' Republic, would make a set with clear reverse lights in place of the blackout markers.

Short of that, using two of the Ambulance style reverse light brackets, you can bolt them through the A2 Airlift Bumper Frame End Brackets, into a short piece of steel or aluminum 1" x 0.125" flat bar stock.

Hey, that's not a bad idea. All you'd have to do is, unplug the BO wire and plug the reverse light wire into it and make a long pig tail extending it over to the other bucket. Then you'd have to figure out how to replace the lens inside the fixture with something. Two white LED's and Bob's your uncle.

Also FWIW, I discovered too late that Erik's surplus has reverse light kits. They appear to be incandescent 24v bulbs so no worrying about whether the LED will smoke itself. I'm not sure if these are "ambulance" reverse lights. I really am pissed that I didn't find these first.

Replaced the cold start switch.

Note this is easily accessible on the right side rear cylinder head. I loosened the transmission dip stick mount in order to have full access with a box end wrench.

I just discovered recently that there was an industry-shift to use the separate terms "wireless" and "wire-free." Wireless means wireless data communication, but external power is needed. Wire-free means wireless data communication and self-contained power (battery, solar, etc). Industry terminology really sneaks up on you sometimes...

This is one of the tail light covers off my M1025A2, which has one all incandescent bulb assy and one hybrid incandescent brake/turn and LED BO Marker/Brake. Now one of these I repaired before had a metal rectangular frame that held the BO marker lens assembly in place, this one has a clear, cup-shaped insert outer most with a 0.25" thick back plate with the Y shaped BO marker light that is pressed in and melted in place behind the clear cup. Now you can probably take a flat tip screwdriver to pop out the Y shaped BO marker insert but that may leave the clear cup prone to being pressed in or leak water. So I think its possible to punch a starter point about 0.25" from the outer edge on each corner, drill the 4 corners with a 3/16-1/4" drill bit then use a Dremel cutoff disc to remove the plastic between the 4 holes to allow the maximum light through the clear plastic cup. I'm going to see just how much white light the BO marker LED and bulb make after dark. Hopefully it should be enough to alert other drivers and pedestrians that you are backing out, worse case use a higher wattage bulb for more light. I didn't want to drill out the BO inserts on these covers because they are original to the truck, I'll find an extra set of covers maybe new manufacture to test the alteration for a build in Reverse/Backup light capability.

Some of the aftermarket backup cameras have IR LEDs to enhance the camera's night vision to make obstacles more visible, so hopefully the above alteration produces enough light to warn other drivers at a minimum and may help improve the backup camera's night vision, too. If it works that would simplify making the trucks safe for road use.

Edit: I checked the BO tail lights in darkness, it puts out enough white light to be noticeable, I wonder if using a Y connector to use both the BO marker and BO brake lights as Reverse/Backup lights would be better?

Made a 35mi run to town today and got my first impression of the TreadWright tires and Centramatic tire balancers, WOW what a difference, smother than anyone could expect, my eyeballs are no longer bouncing between the sky and the pavement, and the tires are much quieter too.
Of course only time will tell about "remolded" tires but so far I am very happy, going to test these less aggressive tires on the 4WD only portion of S. Padre Isl. during the annual beach cleanup on the 29th, pulling the M1101 trailer.
