Need pictures...Installed a backup light on the M998, with the pressure switch added to the gear shift selector...and it works!!!
Also adjusted the handbrake and it now holds it still.... WOOHOO.
Simple fix. Make sure you send your wife on errands every day so the rig does not sit. Keeping her busy will make your life easier and your rig will not need fixing.Wife's truck has had the very, very occasional "episode" where the fan doesn't engage. It seems to happen if the truck sits for a few weeks without being driven. If I unplug the TDM, the fan engages so that rules out the control (cadillac?) valve.
Over the last few days, the problem is finally more consistent so I'll try the troubleshooting procedure in the TM and try to determine if it's the thermostatic switch or the TDM.

There are 2 thermostatic switches called out in the parts manual-
One is screwed into the piping near the front of the engine and the other is screwed into the side of the passenger's side cylinder head. It seems to me that they both operate on the temperature of the coolant.
Which one of these controls the engine fan operation? What does the other thermostatic switch control?
I'm looking at the 24P-1, Section II, Figure 66.
Edit- Nevermind, I figured it out by looking at some of the vendor websites. The one in the cylinder head is the "advance" (for fuel delivery?) and the one in the crossover piping is the fan switch.
