Well I guess I'm slipping, I've been here since 2012. Hopefully he doesn't turn me in to the internet police.
I don’t call out people that can’t afford the 15.00 membership. I understand your situation and I hope it improves. I’m just glad that you are here! I remember when I was broke and trying to do stuff that I couldn’t afford. Not much fun. I think your positive energy is enough… Im really interested in lobster fest and I will buy your lunch because I understand that you can’t afford it.

sound proofed another area on the humvee that might get over looked which is behind the rear seats.

I fit a sheet of kilmat, some closed cell foam, and 3/4in horse mat behind there. now when u tap on the inner fender much less noise makes it through

Need to work on finishing up sound deadening the power steering pump too just been to cold and rainy lately.

well got the power steering done, this is a picture before I put the last sheet of mlv on. still needs some kind of tape that will stick to mlv for the seems but with the hood up and the wheel turn against the locks u can't hear a power steering whine just a change in the engine but inside u can still hear the pump if you hit the stops but I haven't insulated the firewall yet either. Seems strange how much loader it is inside the cab vs outside but because of it's location I think a lot of the noise bounces around the firewall and feet/wheel well area.

2 layers kilmat, than closed cell foam and seems covered with black duct tape, that mlv to top it off.

the top of the pump was by far the hardest part to do since there's so little room to get your hands in there.

How does the sound proofing work with heat dissipation? Will this material increase temps?
Yes the kilmat/CCF/mlv would increase heat but shouldn't make any difference in a liquid cooled system like the power steering. If it was air cooled only you could run into problems.

Areas i've done where I've been worried about heat so far are the valve covers, engine valley, oil pan, and the back of the block. For those areas I just used Kilmat as once it's rolled on there is no air gaps between it and the metal so once up to temp the heat transfer should be the same as if the metal was just a touch thicker but the engine is also liquid cooled so it shouldn't matter and you could probably add more insulation if u wanted.

Had no happiness with glow plug #8. Looks like 17 year old rust belt engine glow plugs have grown roots.

Cracked off at neck. Not looking forward to extraction. Might leave it if others come out.

No joy in Mudville today.

Others are now percolating in penetrating oil. Blow torch and slow extraction tomorrow.

It was actually over the last few days, but I got the driver floor insulation, heater core, blower, etc, CO side floor insulation in, along with finishing up the HVAC duct/diverter. The only thing left there is the railcar tiedown decal. What a mess that's been trying to find.......

I also got a set of Trucklite LED taillights in, stripped some parts off the "new" hood and cleaned up a set of Trucklite LED headlights I got from Austin.

I'm pretty excited to take it out for Easter dinner on Sunday.

More progress on the 50. Got the grips installed, charging handle installed, and a fresh coat of paint.

Next step is to make a reproduction barrel. Right now I have a real barrel which probably weighs 40 pounds. It makes me nervous driving around with that heavy barrel supported by 3D printing plastic, if something fails when I slam in the brakes I dont want a barrel flying through someones windshield. Anyway I have plans to make a barrel that should weigh well under 10 pounds and will be much more secure.

And FYI, the plan is to have this mounted for parades only, or perhaps I'll come up with a bright orange cap for the end.

With swear jar at the ready, I tackled the oil cooler. A day earlier a double rainbow gave me hope that I might meet with success.

The shallow soft steel hex heads are… challenging.

Blow torch for each one. Loosen and tighten technique. Two came out easily. One came out after I hammered in a star socket. One required multiple reverse cut drills, easy outs, and a generous donation to the aforementioned swear jar. Worked with Eric to replace the oil unit. He made bolts into custom flathead screws via my Dremmel method. Oil cooler fastening holes were 1mm too narrow. More $ in the swear jar. Finally Eric and I got the oil radiator in just right.

Worked under The Heavens in the open air garage. When the lights went out, watched a SpaceX Falcon launch. What I thought was a plane was quickly discovered by Eric Hummer H1 to be a rocket. Amazing.

If anyone remembers the Fast and Furious heydays of the early 2000s, I was guilty of building plenty of fiberglass car parts. Since then, I've built plenty of actual racecar parts, so fiberglass is easy. This is even easier since it doesn't have to be perfect, just work.

Missing one marker light bucket and one lower corner-

Waiting on Trucklite LED signals, new LED markers (the ones I had both failed somehow), and a day to swap everything over. I also need to sandblast the ballistic grille. Somehow it has at least 3 layers of CARC.
