With the help of a friend we hung the West Kentucky X-Doors yesterday. Long day in the heat but they turned out really nice. Next up will be to drive around on them for a few and then take them back off to paint them.

Went to look at my first Humvee. Lots to take in but I really liked it. Very visceral and quicker off the line than I expected. It had the old AC system up front and the flat style in back which worked ok on 91 degree muggy day. The second one I looked at had the newer style AC system that runs on top of the 'dash' which I didnt get to drive. Lots of hot air coming in at my feet which Im sure there is a way to reduce that. Seller has some work to do on the one I wanted and well circle back in a week or so. Hopefully the newer style AC system puts out more air than the old style.

Got my second delivered on Friday! 2 weeks and 2 days (with two federal holidays in there) to get it, first time EUC too. 1097A2. Listed as "ran when jump started but would not restart" so I figured no batteries, I sure was surprised when I took off the seat to find two new looking hawker batteries installed. Started right up on its own and backed it off the trailer. I'm going to go through it and change all the fluids but everything I checked via dipsticks is full and looks clean.

.
That's great!

BE SURE to look through startup proceedures in the "Dash 10" Technical Manual.
That will save you lots of time and money!

Well that didnt work out. Seller was supposed to fix X and when that was done, I was told the engine has internal problems. I have a back up unit im looking at but on the road working at the moment till late next week. Same set up but privately owned, which I like. My thinking is that a privately owned rig might have had some more in-depth maintenance done.

A short while ago I replaced my windshields, got them off of Fleabay from a great vendor. Lowered the price nd gave free shipping. I was able to re use the gaskets, they were somehow still very serviceable.

And, following someone's' lead here on the board, I turned $11 Wally World wipers into bad-a$$ HMMWV wipers 😆

Even painted them CARC substitute color from RAPCO.

So just for kicks, I decided to calculate the mpg of the Humvee.

I drove it 154 miles between fill ups, and it took 11.54 gallons. So if my math is correct, it's averaging 13.34 mpg.

That's mixed driving around the city, country back roads, and even some trips up and down Rt95 going 70mph.
