Bear craps in the woods. One of the gas distributor once ran a "Tiger in your tank" performance fuel ??. Guess I had a brain flashback. Tony the Tiger was on the cereal box.

Picked up a M1025A2 off the most recent GoDove auction Friday. EUC wait time was 3 months, but two of those months it was approved and I was told the person that signs them was on vacation. Not even 5 minutes off the trailer I had it doing jumps. I'm going to post the "Rod Hall" suspension in a different thread because it is interesting. This HMMWV was made for special forces and was a GMV.

Played around and setup my VIC-3. FINALLY. I've only had most of the parts for over a year and just finished picking up the rest of the cables needed for a basic setup. Now that I was able to test it and work out the bugs in some of the hardware, I can finally think about where I'm going to mount it all. I'm thinking about a permanent placement of MCS/L and FFCS/L on the radio deck, a bracket for a removable troop area FFCS, and an optional additional FFCS up front for some hardware that I'm still working out how to use right now. (Hint: it's rarer than hen's teeth in the U.S. and has the potential to remote control modern and non-military radios through the intercom system... I was lucky enough to score two of them, which should be the minimum operating requirement.)

Did you make the entire Rhino Carrier from scratch or found a replacement LH and RH threaded center section with ratchet?
All made from scratch. I bought the hinge assembly and the center is from a heavy duty ratchet jack.

Nice! I love the improvised lift you used here. I really need to remember this next time I've got an odd thing to lift a short distance.
Yeah, it worked out pretty good. 3 2x6s, some 1x3s for angle braces, half a dozen straps of various types, a tree, a pulley, and a little patience. The tractor made things easier, but originally I was planning on just using a come-along.

I'm actually a pretty lazy person, so I like coming up with the most efficient way to do things with minimal effort.


Only real issue was I kept having to pull the HMMWV forward as I lowered the top, but that just meant I had to get up off the tractor and walk around the HMMWV repeatedly and make sure everything lined up how it was supposed to. In the end it was something like 1 hour from when I started gathering supplies to when I had everything back where it came from.

I was actually just looking for a 2 man soft top, asked the local facebook group if anyone had one they could sell me, as my HMMWV is getting wet a lot (Pacific Northwest weather). One of the guys had a couple soft tops, and this. He named a price I couldn't refuse, and went and picked it up last night. I have the cutout panels for it to keep it the 2 door version for now, but will need to either find or fabricate the rear doors.

Moving the truck around, found an oily spot on the ground.

Crawled under the truck, found diesel dripping from the driver's side of the engine.

Looked at it from the top and found the front fuel return line between the injectors was rubbing against the flywheel on the alternator, and had rubbed through.

Took some leftover fuel line from repairing the MEP802 and it's the same inside diameter. Outside has a braided cover instead of just plain rubber, but I don't see any reason why it won't do the job.

Hooray for simple problems and simple repairs.

Not sure on the fuel return line with the braided cover is the same used here (sounds like it). Diesel shops (E pay sellers too) seem to think a lot of it. At first it seemed like the magic hose with no clamp needed per sales pitch. Those little GM OEM clamps on the injectors can be a tricky pain in the bottom...so let's give it a try.

The braid and overall size of the magic stuff does not allow for the GM return line clamps. I like clamps, old school, I guess.

The bad part is the braid feather out on the ends. Looks cool, not that it's doing much IMO. Never had the fancy braid stuff blow off, just splits, leaks and sometimes falls off. messing with the fuel mileage, not to mention smells and FIRE potential.

Two different suppliers, three different trucks, four leaks in two years.
